Hector felt a shiver run down his spine when he noticed the deadly gleam in Yvette's eyes. However, he stayed seated and listened to her story in silence.
Yvette clenched her fists so tightly that her nails pressed into her palms. Her whole being appeared consumed by the fury and loathing radiating from her gaze. The intense hostility distorted her aged, wrinkled features.
"Grandma." Charlene appeared just then, holding a tray with tea and fruit. She softly addressed her and served tea for both. "Grandma, you've startled Mr. Hector."
At that moment, Yvette seemed to snap out of her thoughts. She inhaled deeply, moved to gazed out the window. The plane tree in the front yard swayed in the breeze, and a few leaves drifted from the wind.
Charlene sat next to Hector and gently patted his arm.
"Are you afraid?" she asked. "Don't worry, Grandma won't harm you. Everything she's done is in pursuit of justice for the tragic loss of over a hundred members of the Jenkins family."
"But if your grandmother seeks justice, shouldn't she focus on Vivian, the real culprit, rather than dragging innocent people like my sister and Laura into this?" Hector's face was stern, his fists tightly clenched.
Yvette's resentment extended beyond Natalie and Charles, encompassing both the Walker and Langley families as well.
That was a problem for their generation to solve. Why should Natalie be dragged into it?
Even if the Langley family deserved to face justice and pay for their actions, what about the years Natalie had been drained of life and the suffering she had gone through?
"Hector, you haven't heard the entire story from my grandma yet. Don't get so upset," Charlene advised cautiously.
"The Walker family remains the wealthiest in the country, and the Holden family is the richest worldwide. Meanwhile, the Jenkins family was completely wiped out in Dithoria because of that fire years ago.
"The Walker family constructed their amusement park on land that belonged to the Jenkins family. No wonder my grandma is upset."
"But my family never wronged the Jenkins family. Our purchase of that land was both legal and fair," Hector replied promptly. "Every phase of the development after acquiring the land was officially sanctioned. We didn't harm the Jenkins family in order to obtain it.
"My sister was swapped at birth by your folks. Your grandma even allowed the Langley family to treat her that way. Are you even human?"
When she heard this, Yvette glanced at Hector with a trace of astonishment. Although she had been standing by the window to steady her nerves, she was listening closely to the exchange between Hector and Charlene.
Hector's dedication and concern for his family, particularly for his youngest sister Natalie, were clear. Yvette appreciated people who cherished their families, which was why she had chosen Hector. He was always there for Natalie, looking out for her.
On the other hand, Yvette had judged Sky's actions as unforgivable right from the beginning.
Yvette recounted the past, detailing the grudges and animosities that had motivated her to devise such intricate plans and pull in numerous individuals. There was no mistaking her deep-seated hatred.
"Would you care for some tea, Mrs. Jenkins Senior?" Hector asked as he poured another steaming cup for Yvette. "Everyone has their own perspective. You have your own suffering, but that doesn't mean my sister should bear the brunt of it."
"Even if my grandmother wronged you or the Jenkins family, any desire for revenge should be aimed at her, not at my baby sister."
Yvette scoffed icily. "I aim to cause the Walker family distress. Your grandmother is callous and self-centered. She wouldn't lose sleep over the Walker family's issues. So, I chose to pass this anguish down to your generation."
She continued, "I wanted you to discover that the person you all lovingly nurtured isn't actually yours. I intended for Emma to dismantle the Walker family, pushing it to the edge of ruin.
"But that lovesick fool is completely hopeless. If she had any brains, she would have held onto Sky once she found out she wasn't biologically a Walker. She could have married him, ensuring her status as Sky's wife, and enjoyed limitless wealth and privilege."
Yvette paused before saying, "Still, there was one thing I didn't foresee." She lifted the cup of tea Hector had poured and sipped it gracefully. "Charlotte and William, as well as your brothers, all supported Natalie without a second thought."
She added, "In the whole Walker family, Sky was the only one who wasn't level-headed."
Hector's lips curled slightly. "Exactly! And that's how Sky ended up in jail."

Hope Grandpa Charles lives long enough to see Marcus and Nat's children, please. It will make him happy to see life is still worth living and that he didn't fail raising Marcus at least. Let him be happy at least in this aspect. Thanks...
Finished till 538....Waiting for more...
This really hurts. I am confused if Yvette sent a msg saying old love to Charles through Charlene. Why isnt it in her confession. Or did she actually set vivian up into sleeping with that man? And later blackmailed vivian with it till vivian commited suicide? Did Yvetty yhinks Charles would marry her after vivians death but he remained loyal. Hence her anger?...
Hope Nat can cure Marcus' mom. Looking forward to new updates. Thank you...
