The Heiress Nobody Saw Coming (Natalie and Marcus) novel Chapter 555

Kenton's vocal cords were already damaged, so his voice was raspy and unpleasant. When he laughed maniacally, it became even more grating.

Yvette reached out and covered her ears. She didn't want to hear that laughter.

Outside the hospital room, Sheldon hadn't gone far. He took out his phone and opened a photo of Charles.

As he stared at it, tears began to fall.

He had followed Charles his whole life and had long since come to see him as his closest family member.

Every day, he had done everything he could to serve Charles with care, hoping he could live a long life. Even if Charles couldn't live a long life, he shouldn't have left the world like this.

"Mr. Holden Senior," Sheldon choked. "There are some things Mr. Holden and Ms. Walker can't do—but I can." His voice trembled. "I've already had Kenton contact Selena. That old psycho, Yvette, needs someone like Selena to deal with her.

"Mr. Holden Senior, you gave everything to the Jenkins family, and this is how they repay you. I just can't stomach it—I really can't." He wiped his face. "I lied to Mr. Holden and Ms. Walker. They won't be coming to the hospital for a while.

"Kenton and I will hand Yvette over to Selena and her parents. Mr. Holden Senior, once I've gotten your revenge, I'll join you up there."

Sheldon wiped away his tears. In the next instant, his expression turned steely again. Sometimes, it took evil to deal with evil. Yvette played an innocent, but back when Selena was just a baby, wasn't she innocent too?

Selena might be cruel, but if she hadn't been swapped at birth, if she had grown up loved by her real parents, she wouldn't have suffered like she did. Yvette wasn't a saint when Selena was just an infant.

Sheldon left the hospital, pulled out a different photo, and dialed for Selena. "Selena, where are you three now?"

"Three more hours, and we'll be in Dithoria," Selena's voice came through. "Sheldon, are you really sure you want to hand over that old hag Yvette to me and my parents?"

"Absolutely." Sheldon's voice gave away no emotion. "Yvette has controlled Grace all these years. You being taken and sold by a nurse—that was on her orders. GIving her to you is only fair."

"Thanks, Sheldon." Selena chuckled. "But we're coming in secretly, so please don't let Natalie or Marcus know."

"Don't worry. I won't."

"Alright then. See you in three hours."

Sheldon hung up and turned to look at Yvette's hospital room, where Kenton's people were standing guard outside. Revenge didn't always need to come directly from the Holden family.

"Mr. Holden Senior, just you wait. You were too kind, unwilling to take certain actions—but I'm not like you." He put his phone away. "I'm vicious. I'll make sure Yvette gets exactly what she deserves." He murmured the words under his breath as he pressed the elevator button.

Three hours later, Selena and her parents appeared at the hospital in disguise. And five minutes after arriving, they entered Yvette's hospital room.

The moment they stepped inside, Kenton stood up. Victor may not have been Grace's biological son, but as his uncle, Kenton still cared about him deeply.

As for Selena, Kenton's guilt toward her ran even deeper. After all, her being taken away happened right under his nose.

Back then, Kenton had no power to resist. He could only go along with it, whether he wanted to or not. To gain Yvette's full trust, he had to sacrifice baby Selena.

Now, looking at the Langley family standing before him, Kenton's eyes turned red.

He stepped forward and gave them a once-over. He had always operated from the shadows, so Victor had never known of his existence.

Smiling lightly, Selena unzipped her bag the rest of the way. A variety of small snakes spilled out and landed all over Yvette.

"Help me!" Yvette's wretched screams echoed through the room—but she was the only patient on this floor. Her room had also been specially soundproofed. As long as no one came in, nobody outside would hear a thing.

Inside the room, Yvette was leaping around wildly—nothing like a terminal patient. It seemed that when people were scared enough, they could unleash a strength they didn't know they had.

Selena stood in place, watching Yvette with great interest. Only when Yvette finally fainted from fear did she step forward and calmly scoop the snakes back into her bag.

"So easy to scare. Great-Uncle Kenton, how did she ever manage to threaten you back then?"

Kenton looked at Selena differently now. There was unmistakable awe in his eyes.

"Things were different back then." He sighed, sounding weary. "She and Grace—your grandmother—never even met. Your grandmother didn't even know who was giving the orders over the phone.

"But I was different. I saw her from the beginning, worked under her, and did her dirty work. She acted like the whole world owed her and the Jenkins family. She hated the Holden family and the Walker family with a vengeance. That said, she hated us just the same. But why?

"Did the Jenkins family do no wrong? Was Vivian innocent? And the man who deceived Grace—was he innocent too?"

As Kenton spoke, his eyes reddened. "Not one of them was blameless. Not one!"

"It's alright," Selena said with a soft smile. "Yvette had me sold off when I was just a baby—and yet I'm still here, alive and well.

"So now, let the madness meet its match."
