Byron’s gaze was cold. “I’m here to check if you’ve broken my expensive furniture.” 

Maeve immediately replied, “No! I had been watching them move the things that day. Your furniture is absolutely fine.” 

“I don’t believe you,” he said. Maeve could only bring him upstairs to take a look.
