The Hidden Gold Mine Heiress Divorcee novel Chapter 292

Chapter 292 Five Years Ago 8
Ziana’s eyes were like water, filled with anticipation as she looked at Boris. Her charming and delicate appearance made it difficult for Boris to look away.
Boris felt like Ziana was a blooming flower, and he knew that as long as he said yes, she
would be his.
It was so tempting!
Boris clenched his hand under the blanket and forced himself to say, “I don’t date.”
“You’re so straightforward.” Ziana looked down and pouted. “Aren’t you afraid that I will be sad after being rejected?”
“I’m honestly rejecting you out of respect for your feelings,” Boris said in a cold voice, “Sorry!”
“I know!” Ziana puffed her cheeks at him. “You don’t want to, and I can’t force you! Relationships can’t be forced, and I never force anyone to do anything. Should I go
now?”
“Yes.”
“Get some rest.”
“You too,” Boris paused for a moment and spoke in a soft tone, “Goodnight, Miss
Scott.”
Ziana lazily waved her hand with her back turned to Boris. She seemed carefree, but her face immediately turned sour as soon as she stepped out of the room.
Although Ziana felt she wasn’t particularly upset, she was still unhappy.
After all, she had been showered with love and attention all her life and had never been
rejected like this before!
It was the first time she had ever confessed her feelings to a man and been so
thoroughly rejected.
She felt ashamed to tell anyone about it.
When Ziana met Gigi, she immediately looked down in defeat and said, “I failed my first
attempt.”
“What?” Gigi was surprised. “You were rejected?”
“Yes!” Ziana’s face was bitter. “He refused me very firmly! He didn’t give me even the slightest chance!”
“But Mr. Lewis is usually so cold, yet he is always especially gentle with you. If he loves you so much, he shouldn’t dislike you.” Gigi, with more experience in love than Ziana, volunteered to guide her. “Tell me about the process, and I will analyze it for you.”
Ziana glanced at her and said, “He rejected me. What is there to analyze?”
Gigi thought of Yudel and said, “Men can be hypocritical. Sometimes what they think in their hearts, what they say, and what they actually do are all different.”
Ziana, with no experience, took Gigi’s confident words to heart and explained the
situation to her.
“And then?” Ziana finished and asked Gigi for guidance. “With your experience, did he really reject me, or was it a fake rejection?”
“I think it’s a fake rejection,” Gigi said thoughtfully.
“Why?” Ziana’s beautiful eyes lit up again. “How did you come to that conclusion?”
“It’s simple. Mr. Lewis is not an indecisive person, but his reaction to your question about dating is intriguing.”
Gigi supported her chin and explained to her, “He used the excuse that you were too young to date and that he didn’t want to date, but he never said that he didn’t like you.”
“What?” Ziana was confused.
“He didn’t say that he didn’t like you,” Gigi became more convinced of her speculation as she spoke, “Although using that sentence to reject someone is the most direct and determined way, he found so many reasons and excuses. I think he has some thoughts
on his mind.”
Ziana heard this and felt a faint spark of hope reignite in her heart.
“But if he likes me, why won’t he admit it?” Ziana still didn’t quite understand.
“You’re just too young,” Gigi looked her up and down, “He feels guilty inside, and he’s probably insecure now.”
To Gigi, Boris now was like she was in front of Yudel back then. She couldn’t help but doubt herself because the other person was too outstanding.
“What should I do then?” Ziana asked, “I’ve already sent someone to find his cornea. Should I wait for him to recover and then confess to him when I turn 18 in two years? He’s older than me. What if someone else falls in love with him before that?”
Gigi told her to calm down as everything she said was a long time ago. “Now, we need to
test whether he likes you or not first.”
“How do we test it?”
“I have a plan.”
Gigi whispered something to her for a while, and Ziana was skeptical. “Will it work?”
“You won’t know until you try.”
Boris was unaware of the two girls’ conspiracy, but he immediately noticed something was wrong when Ziana didn’t come to see him the next afternoon.
She said she would come to see him before she left yesterday. Boris even waited for her since this morning, but she didn’t show up.
Boris could understand why.
He knew Ziana was very proud and arrogant, and she must have been unhappy after he rejected her. She was probably still mad at him and didn’t want to see him.
Boris sighed. He wanted to go see her, but he was afraid he would make her unhappy. All he could do was wait day after day.
He didn’t expect to wait for five days.
Boris could not sit still any longer and decided to go find Ziana. Even if she was mad at him, he had to see her.
He missed her a bit.
handsome, except for that one eye that seemed ugly no matter how he looked at it.
He put back on his cat-patterned eye mask, and his tightly pursed lips finally relaxed.
The Scott family castle was a relatively private place, and as a guest, Boris didn’t dare. wander around when he left his room.
When he saw the maid, he asked the maid where Ziana was and hobbled with his cane
towards the backyard.
He hadn’t walked for long when he heard laughter and voices, both male and female.
He didn’t recognize the male voice, but Boris immediately distinguished Ziana’s voice.
Her laughter was sweet and pleasant, making him feel ticklish.
Boris couldn’t help but laugh along with her. Hearing her laugh made him feel relieved that Ziana wasn’t upset with him for rejecting her.
With these thoughts in mind, Boris hobbled forward with his cane.
As Boris’ vision gradually widened, he saw Ziana and the man opposite her in an
intimate pose, laughing and chatting.
The man fed Ziana fruit and even wiped her mouth, while Ziana looked at him with shining eyes, smiling with a blissful expression.
Boris’ hand holding the cane tightened.
He wondered who this stranger was.
Boris had no idea what relationship this man had with Ziana.
He even suspected that when she didn’t come to see him, she was with this man.
Boris knew he wasn’t entitled to ask Ziana these questions, but these thoughts filled his
mind, making it hard for him to calm down.
Ziana didn’t notice him and quickly rode away with the man on a bike.
Boris watched Ziana sitting on the back of the man’s bike and laughing happily. His heart grew heavier, and he even found it hard to breathe.
Boris stood there for a long time, until he came back to his senses when Lynn came over
and called him back for a check-up.
“Mr. Lewis, what were you looking at?” Lynn asked gently.
“I just saw Miss Scott with a man earlier. Is he the Scott family’s son?” He twiddled his fingers, asking tentatively.
Lynn shook her head and smiled, “No, he’s Miss Scott’s boyfriend.”
“Boyfriend?” Boris was taken aback.
“Yes, her new one.”
“Well.”
“Mr. Lewis, it’s time to go back for your check-up.”
The rest of the day, Boris was absent-minded, constantly replaying the scene of Ziana
and the man together in his mind.
He felt that they were indeed a perfect match, at least in terms of appearance.
But Boris also felt it was his fault for rejecting her first, and yet the one feeling the most
hurt seemed to be himself.
Boris felt regretful. He thought that he was now so weak and cowardly that he didn’t
even have the courage to ask her.
By nightfall, he made a decision to leave the island and return to the Lewis family.
Lynn soon passed this news on to Ziana.
Upon hearing the news, Ziana immediately sprang up from the couch. “What did you say? Is he going back to the Lewis family? Now?”
Lynn nodded, “Yes, today he went to the garden and saw you with Bowen Tate. He was silent and withdrawn afterward.”
Although Boris was usually not talkative, his body language was especially low today.
Ziana grabbed Gigi’s hand in distress. “Gigi, what should I do now? You said he would come and ask me if he likes me. But now he wants to leave the island himself. Does that mean he really doesn’t like me?”
Gigi was also puzzled. “I don’t know… It’s hard to guess the thoughts of a mature man like him. He doesn’t play by the rules.”
“What should I do now? He’s leaving now!” Ziana’s mind went blank. It was her first experience with love, and she didn’t know how to handle it. “Maybe he thinks I changed my mind too quickly and misunderstood me, so he doesn’t want to see me anymore?”
Gigi furrowed her brows. “There are two options now.”
“Tell me!” Ziana stared at her.
“First, you can observe him for a few more days.”
“But he’s leaving! Didn’t you hear Lynn say that he’s leaving tomorrow?”
“Then you need to come clean with him.” Gigi sighed. “You should tell him how you feel
and ask him if he likes you or not. If he doesn’t, let him go tomorrow. That way, you can
move on and stop torturing yourself.”
Ziana made up her mind. “Then it’s the second option!”
In less than five minutes, she appeared in Boris’ room.
“Lynn told me you’re going back to the Lewis family.” Ziana sat down on the sofa and looked at his cold face, coughing lightly. “I’ve been keeping an eye on the Lewis family.
The situation there is very turbulent, and it’s not suitable for you to go back now.”
Boris shook his head. “My injury is almost healed, and the Lewis family has had its
share of trouble. I need to do what I have to do.”
“You know it’s not a good time to go back, but you insist on it. Boris, you’re not the kind
of person who would make such a decision.” Ziana took a deep breath. “Are you jealous?”
Boris’ heart s*ipped a beat, his tone flat. “No, I don’t like being jealous.”
Ziana agreed with Gigi’s statement that men like Boris, who was emotionally mature, hid their feelings well and didn’t show them in their expressions.
Ziana didn’t like communicating with Boris in this way, and she didn’t want to keep guessing, so she took a deep breath and spoke up, “The boyfriend you saw today wasn’t real. I pretended to test whether you liked me or not.
“Gigi said that if you liked me, you would have been jealous and asked me about it when you saw me with another man. But you didn’t.”
Ziana sighed in frustration. “If you’ve truly decided to leave, I won’t stop you. But before you go, I just want an answer, so I can finally give up. If you don’t reject me explicitly, I’ll always have hope and fantasies. So, do you like me or not?”
Boris remained silent.
“Do you like me or not?” Ziana asked again.
Boris still didn’t say anything.
Boris felt that Ziana was always so direct in expressing her love.
Boris’ mind was in turmoil, torn between his rationality and emotions, and he couldn’t
answer for a long time.
Ziana looked at him steadily and suddenly smiled. “Okay, I know the answer now.”
She stood up and straightened her skirt. “Boris, I won’t bother you anymore.
Tomorrow, I’ll have someone send you back.”
