Chapter 450 Catching Him in Bed
The next day.
The engagement part was thrown.
Winifred woke up early, determined to look her best for the occasion.
The maids bustled in, ready to help her get dressed.
“Where’s Edison?” Winifred looked around anxiously, but Edison was nowhere to be seen. Frustrated, she snapped at a servant, “Go and fetch him. I need him to help me with my makeup.”
The maid hurried off to Edison’s palace.
He was already awake. He got the message and hummed indifferently.
He couldn’t muster any enthusiasm for the engagement ceremony. He looked down at the maid and said, “You know what to do.”
“Yes,” the maid said respectfully, “Rest assured, Prince Edison. I’ll take care of it.”
Edison closed his eyes, and when he opened them again, they were filled with unconcealable coldness and ridicule. “Let’s go and meet my fiancée.”
When he arrived, Winifred had just started applying her makeup.
She was overjoyed to see Edison, and she chattered excitedly, pulling him into a conversation.
Edison answered politely, but he didn’t initiate any conversation.
Winifred didn’t notice, though. She was too caught up in the moment, relishing the rare chance to spend time with her fiancé.
Two hours later, Winifred wanted Edison to join her for breakfast, but Jackson interrupted, saying that they had to prepare for the party. “Duke Bourne has arrived and wishes to speak with you.”
“Go ahead,” Winifred smiled upon hearing the arrival of her father, “don’t keep him waiting.”
“Okay,” Edison said gently. “Enjoy your meal.”
“I will,” Winifred said sweetly.
As he walked away, he shot a glance at the maid beside her, who promptly left the room. Not long after, the maid returned with breakfast.
The makeup artist and stylist departed one by one until only Winifred remained in the room.
The maid placed the food on the table one by one and urged Winifred to eat. “Miss, it’s time to eat! His Highness hopes you’ll like it.”
Get Bos
Winifred’s heart fluttered at Edison’s care for her.
She smiled sweetly and replied, “Okay.”
The maid served her a bowl of porridge, which she quickly devoured. But within ten minutes, there
was a loud thud.
Winifred slumped forward onto the table, unconscious.
The maid immediately checked on her and confirmed her condition before picking her up and carrying her out of the room.
Despite his humble background, Edison had become a prominent figure in recent years and was highly valued by the Western Royalty. This was reflected in the many guests who attended the engagement banquet he hosted.
Standing at the door, Edison greeted each guest personally.
From a distance, Duke Bourne watched him critically but helplessly.
He didn’t have a good impression of Edison due to his background.
Nevertheless, his only daughter had fallen madly in love with him. There were so many princes in
the Western Royalty, yet she only had eyes for him.
The duke could do nothing about it.
Winifred was spoiled and willful, and he doted on her. He didn’t want to make her unhappy, so he
could only grant her wish.
It was fine. Given the momentum, Edison would have a bright future as long as he helped him at
little.
Duke Bourne sighed and suddenly caught Boris appearing at the door.
He hadn’t attended the banquet the night before, Boris’ outbursts had become the talk of the town.
Duke Bourne knew that Boris was now a fool and couldn’t be reasoned with.
But what if he still caused a scene at the engagement banquet? Duke Bourne feared it would ruin his daughter’s big day.
He didn’t want his daughter to become a laughingstock.
His face etched with worry, he strode towards the door.
Edison was greeting Boris politely. “Mr. Lewis, this way please!”
Get Bors
In a black suit, Boris remembered Edison’s visit to Ziana yesterday. His eyes were filled with
contempt.
He raised his chin arrogantly, snorting disdainfully as he brushed past Edison into the banquet hall.
Duke Bourne said with concern, “Today is a happy day. You need to have someone keep an eye on him, making sure he doesn’t have another episode of madness! If we knew he was so unhinged, we shouldn’t have invited him over! If all else fails, have someone lure him away. Once your
engagement ceremony is over, you can bring him back!”
“Well…” Edison frowned, “If the others find out…”
“He is unhinged. Whenever his wife is mentioned, he will follow whoever brings it up.” Duke Bourne had made up his mind, “Go and have someone take care of this matter. My daughter’s engagement banquet must not have any mistakes.”
Edison nodded. “Okay, I’ll do it.”
He hurried off to find Jackson and gave him a few orders. Then he came back.
Worried about the situation, Duke Bourne kept an eye on Boris.
Sure enough, not long after, a maid approached Boris.
“Mr. Lewis,” she smiled and said alluringly, “I think I just saw your wife.”
“My wife?” Boris sprang to his feet and shouted, “Where is she? Bawl… Yesterday you. said you would take me to see my wife, but I didn’t see her. Will you take me to see her today?”
The maid was at a loss for words, taken aback by his erratic behavior.
Fortunately, there were few guests around to witness his outbursts.
Despite his craziness, the maid couldn’t help but admire Boris’ handsome face. So, she continued to
deal with him tactfully. “Yes, your wife wants to play hide-and-seek with you. Shall we go find her
now?”
“Okay!” Boris replied, clenching his fists. “Let’s find my wife!”
