The Imposter Bride (Natalia and Magnus) novel Chapter 381

Natalia’s brow furrowed in concentration. “Wait, something was off. I remember a janitor, pushing a cart, came out from there. He seemed really weird”

Magnus’ eyes narrowed instantly. “That guy’s definitely trouble.”

Without hesitation, Magnus dialed James’ number.

“James, I need you to get back to the diner and find the janitor who was pushing the trash cart past my wife. Get his face on camera and have everyone in Hawaii on the lookout!”

“I’m on it,” James replied, his voice tinged with annoyance. This little mystery with Jonas going missing was infuriating.

Who had the guts to kidnap Jonas? They were practically signing their death warrant.

James strode out, energized by the new lead, and heading straight for the diner.

Natalia, however, was suddenly gripped by doubt. Curling up on the couch, she murmured to herself, "Could that man really be involved? Or is it because of that damn curse I cast?"

"Darling, trust me, this has nothing to do with your so-called curse! Don't worry. James is on it. We'll catch that guy soon!" Magnus said as he sat beside Natalia, trying to envelop her in his arms.

Hector, seeing this, squeezed himself between them and nudged Magnus aside. "Move over!"

Magnus nudged him back and shot Hector a glare. Both of them were acting as petty as kids fighting over candy.

"Move it, you're blocking the view. Why's your head so big?" Hector sneered at Magnus, wishing he could just kick him out.

The tension between them was palpable, especially now with Magnus on edge about Jonas' disappearance. "Hector, I'm warning you, stay away from my wife!"

"Has Natalia agreed to that? You promised not to hurt her again, and now the kid's gone missing. Maybe you should do some soul-searching!" Hector's eyes narrowed dangerously.

Magnus scoffed, "My relationship with my wife is none of your business!"

Natalia's frustration peaked. "Stop it, both of you! Get out! Can't I have a moment of peace?!"

Chastised by Natalia, both Magnus and Hector fell silent, anxiously waiting for news from James.

That evening, James returned with grim news. He had reviewed the diner's surveillance, and indeed spotted a tall man pushing a cleaning cart past Natalia. However, the man's face was hidden by a cap, making it impossible to identify him.

Magnus, carrying Natalia to her bedroom, locked Hector out with a firm kick to the door.

Outside, Hector's face paled. Magnus seemed too familiar with Natalia's room, a place Hector himself had never entered. Could it be that Natalia had reignited her old flame with Magnus?

The thought tormented Hector. He remembered Natalia's recent promise to marry him, and a cold, wry smile crossed his face.

He chastised himself for being jealous when Jonas was still missing. That would have to wait. Everything would wait until they found Jonas.

As the first light of dawn crept through the curtains, Natalia slowly opened her eyes to the unfamiliar quiet of the morning. Her mind, still foggy with sleep, immediately sought out the one person she needed to see.

"Jonas, where's Jonas? Has he come back yet?" She murmured, her voice tinged with urgency.

Magnus, who had spent a restless night pacing the floorboards, was sitting in an armchair by her bed. He let out a sigh of relief at the sight of Natalia waking up. "You're awake. Good," he said, trying to offer a comforting smile. "No word from Jonas yet, but don't worry. James is on it; he's tracking down that van as we speak. We should hear something soon."

Tears welled up in Natalia's eyes and spilled over as the tide of her emotions broke free. "How can I not worry? This is all my fault!" She cried out, her voice cracking with despair. "It's all because I wanted to reconnect with you. If I hadn't been so weak, Jonas wouldn't be in this mess. It's all on me, all my fault!"

With that, Natalia's sobs filled the room, and her grief poured out like a relentless storm.
