The Indifferent Ex-Husband: Heartstrings in the Mall of Fate novel Chapter 505

"Alright." It took a moment before Sophia's soft voice came through the phone.

"Can you head home now?" Brandon asked quietly.

"I actually have something going on right now," Sophia said, her voice still gentle and soft, "Could you go back and keep Theresa company first? I'll head home once I'm done."

"I didn't come out to pick a fight with you," Sophia added, "Just got a bit tied up tonight."

"Alright," Brandon nodded, "then hustle back home when you're done."

"Mhm."

Sophia gave a light nod and a soft reply. Her voice was faint, but her promise carried weight.

"I'll hang up now," Brandon said.

"Okay."

Sophia responded, bidding him farewell before ending the call. She then let out a long sigh and looked down at the nearly finished white jade in her palm.

The mini Jesus statue was delicate and intricate, shimmering under the streetlights.

She had just picked it up from the jade carver, having come to collect the replica Jesus statue.

She had just left the jade carver's place.

Before Brandon's call, she had been hesitant and unsure about finishing the piece.

She was really grateful for Brandon's call.

Her open palm slowly closed.

Sophia, with the replica Jesus in hand, returned to her DIY shop to finish the incomplete gift.

Being an artist and designer, she had skillful hands.

This kind of DIY craft was right up her alley.

But it was quite a big project, and Sophia was being extra careful, so it was taking longer than expected. By 11 PM, there was still some finishing work left undone.

Seeing that she hadn't come back yet, Brandon called again, asking when she would be home.

"I'm heading back now," Sophia said.

"Where are you at? I'll come and get you," Brandon said on the other end, his voice trailing off as the sound of keys being picked up could be heard.

Sophia quickly stopped him. "No need, I'll just take a cab."

"It's too late," Brandon insisted, "Where are you?"
