Chapter 8
“What?”
The joy came so suddenly that Jackson couldn’t react for a moment.
“I said I’ll come back. I’ve already agreed to stay at the university.”
Thinking for a moment, she added: “I bought a ticket to return tomorrow.”
Hearing this, Jackson’s eyes, which had almost dimmed, instantly brightened again.
He kissed the camera several times before reluctantly ending the video call.
When Claire arrived at the Gray family mansion, she noticed decorations adorning the
entrance.
The main door was decorated with colorful wreaths and “Just Married” signs.
The housekeepers were in the living room, cheerfully distributing wedding favors and champagne.
Seeing Claire, they were all surprised.
“Miss Claire, you’re back in the country?”
Hearing the commotion, Mr. Gray immediately came downstairs.
“Claire, you’re back!”
“Did you hear that your brother and sister–in–law are getting married soon, so you came back specially for their wedding?”
Claire smiled and replied:
“Uncle Gray, school gave me a few days–off, so I came back specially to see you.”
“My break isn’t long, so I’m leaving tomorrow.”
Chapter 8
Hearing she was leaving tomorrow, Mr. Gray’s face showed reluctance as he held her hand:
“So soon? Can’t you ask for more days off?”
“Your brother is finally getting married. As his young sister, you can’t miss his wedding!”
Mr. Gray didn’t know about their relationship.
He always thought his adopted daughter and son were just close siblings.
He always felt very gratified by this.
Claire shook her head, saying softly:
“Forget it, I won’t attend. School coursework is more important, and my professor called yesterday urging me to return quickly.”
Mr. Gray sighed lightly: “Alright then, but you must take care of yourself.”
“If you encounter any difficulties abroad, call your brother.”
“If you feel too tired, just come back home. Your brother and I will support you for life.”
