Chapter 21
“Things between Emma and me weren’t what you thought. And I I always knew–she cared
more about my money than me. If I give her enough money, she’ll definitely agree to
divorce me.”
Claire’s face still showed no emotion; she simply continued questioning:
“So what? Why do you think I would abandon Jackson, such a wonderful fiancé, to choose you–a divorced single father and second–hand goods?”
The words hit like a slap.
His face immediately darkened, and his tone lost its earlier gentleness:
“Since when are you so cruel? I’ve already agreed to fulfill my earlier promise to you. Why
won’t you forgive me?”
Claire almost laughed. The sheer audacity.
Was she supposed to be grateful?
How narcissistic must he be to have the audacity to behave this way?
Or did he think she was a trash can that would accept garbage at any time?
With these thoughts, Claire laughed mockingly:
“Zane, don’t you find yourself ridiculous right now?”
“I’ve already told you clearly that Jackson and I truly love each other, and we’re about to get
married.”
“I never liked roses, and I definitely don’t like you anymore.”
Zane’s face gradually paled, but he still wouldn’t give up.
“Claire, we spent ten years together. You know how good I was to you before. Just because I
made one mistake-?”

“One mistake?” she cut in, incredulous. “You lied. You betrayed me. And now you think I
should just… take you back?”
“Yes, I did wrong, but people make mistakes. Are you so sure Jackson won’t?”
Claire was about to retort when Jackson’s voice came from behind her:
“If you hadn’t helped Claire in the past, do you think you’d still have the chance to stand
here making a scene?”
“I can’t promise I’ll never make mistakes, but I certainly won’t make fundamental mistakes or do anything that would disappoint Claire. Zane, from the moment you chose to betray Claire, you lost any chance of being with her.”
After saying this, Jackson walked straight to Claire’s side.
He placed the sunflowers he was holding in Claire’s arms, his voice gentle: “Babe, I’ve come to take you home.”
Claire took one last look at the man she had loved for ten years. Then without hesitation, she placed her hand in Jackson’s.
“Okay, let’s go home.”
Claire and Jackson’s wedding was magnificent.
Mr. Gray also flew all the way to New York to attend.
When he saw Claire and Jackson kiss, his aging eyes reddened.
The applause from the audience seemed endless.
Looking at so many eyes filled with blessings, Claire knew she was truly fortunate.
After the wedding, Claire and/Jackson settled in New York.
As for Zane? He was forcibly taken back to his home by Mr. Gray and never appeared before Claire again.
The day Claire discovered she was pregnant, news of Zane’s divorce reached her.
