Ellinor spoke with a lack of enthusiasm. "Thanks for coming to see me, but I don't want to talk about this."

With a smile, Bartlett asked, "I’m just wondering, if you're willing to reconcile with Theo, where does that leave me?"

Ellinor looked at him with a sincere gaze through her thick, beautiful lashes and said, "Bartlett, you're my friend, and you'll always be my friend."

Bartlett's face fell. After a while, he chuckled self-deprecatingly.

"Forever? Ellinor, you're not leaving me any hope at all."

"There's no point in giving you false hope if I don't have feelings for you. That's not who I am.’ She said as she let out a yawn and stood up. "You guys enjoy your meal. I'm going to hit the sack:"

Belinda also got up. "Ellinor, let me help you upstairs."

Ellinor didn't refuse Belinda's offer and let her assist her upstairs.

Bartlett looked somewhat lost; his eyes became seemingly unfocused.

After a while, he squinted his eyes, reaching for the glass of water Ellinor had left on the table, intending to take a sip.

However, Chase stopped him.

Smiling, Chase said, "Mr. Rex, this water was sipped on by my boss."

Bartlett smiled. "I don't mind"

Still smiling, Chase said, "But she does."

Upstairs in Pearl Howard's room.

Ellinor was freshening up in the bathroom while Belinda idled in the room. Soon, Ellinor came out in her pajamas, ready to hit the hay.

She raised an eyebrow after seeing that Belinda was still in her room. "Aren't you going home?"

Instead of answering, Belinda asked, "Ellinor, why are you staying at the Howard's? This room doesn't look like a guest room or an adult's room. It looks like a little girl's room. Why are you sleeping here?"

Ellinor didn't want to answer that question. The fewer people knew about her relationship with the Howard's, the better.

She pulled back the covers and got into bed.

"Alright, I'm good here. Go downstairs and have Chase take you home; she said.
