So, she had to tolerate it, promising herself to have a heart-to-heart with the two of them when they got home. 

Her emotions were in turmoil, and she needed a moment to herself, so she stood up and said, “Can you please look after Tristan for a bit? I need to use the restroom.” 

Saying that, Sophia got up with an uncomfortable stride and left. 

She wouldn’t take this sort of treatment from anyone else, but in front of this father-son duo, she felt completely powerless. 

It was infuriating. 

After Sophia left, the man looked down at the child in his arms with a hint of curiosity in his brows and asked, “Why did you speak to her like that?” 

‘Tristan, not seeing anything wrong with his behavior, genuinely didn’t like that woman and hated it when she touched him. 

He spoke his mind. “Because I don’t like it when she holds me.” 

The man furrowed his brows. “Regardless, she is your mother. You cannot speak to her like that. You must respect her.” 

Adrian knew better than anyone that he should respect and care for his mother. But that irritating woman was not his mom. 

It was difficult for him to show her any respect. Whenever he saw her, he felt an inexplicable aversion. He despised her. 

But for now, all he could do was nod. Otherwise, this man, his father, would discover that he was not Tristan. 

“Okay, I understand…” He said. 

Marcus looked down at the child in his arms and let out a gentle sigh. The curiosity in his brows remained, never easing up. 

Something about Tristan had been different since he got back yesterday. 

After Sophia left the private room, she stomped towards the restroom. Her steps were loud and heavy with anger, 

She had a belly full of grievances and no one to vent them to. She had spent the last three years pouring time and effort into raising that child, only to be met with increasing hostility and rejection. 

If she complained about this to her father, he would undoubtedly be angry and chastise Marcus again on her behalf. 

So she couldn’t tell her father anything, assuring him instead that she was doing well and that Marcus and the child were good to her. 

Otherwise, she feared a repeat of events from three years ago, when her father beat Marcus so badly that she couldn’t stop him. Marcus was already wheelchair-bound now, and if her father punished him again, he would be completely disabled. 

She just had to tolerate it. She believed she could eventually win Marcus over. 

As for that ungrateful child, once Marcus fell for her, she could simply let him go.
