The Kiss that Sparked it All (Ellinor and Theo) novel Chapter 1648

Chapter 1648

Bertha assured Ellinor that she wouldn’t breathe a word about what she’d seen in the restroom to Thaddeus and Sophia. She then prepared to take her daughter, Lea, and the real Tristan

back to their table.

As she turned to lead the children away, she exchanged a glance with Ellinor and caught sight of her profile. She felt a jarring sense of familiarity.

She abruptly halted, taking a longer look.

Ellinor, feeling the intensity of Bertha’s gaze, seemed puzzled. “Is there something on my face, ma’am?”

Bertha snapped back to reality, shaking her head apologetically. “No, no…”

Having said this, she led the two children out of the restroom.

Bertha’s look had left Ellinor feeling uneasy. After a moment of thought, she couldn’t fathom why. This was the first real encounter between her and Bertha. Why had Bertha looked at her as if she were all too familiar?

It was quite strange.

After watching Bertha exit the restroom with Lea and Tristan, Adrian affectionately hugged Ellinor’s leg. “Mommy, I can finally go home with you!”

Ellinor bent down to look at Adrian, playfully pinching his nose. “Really? I thought you were having quite the time with that man.”

Adrian pouted. “Well… Mommy, I won’t lie. I really like spending time with handsome Dad, but Sophia is always hovering around him. It’s really quite annoying.”

Ellinor huffed. “So, you only want to go home with Mommy because Sophia is annoying? If she wasn’t there, would you prefer to stay with that man and forget about Mommy?”

Adrian was quick to shake his head. “No way! Mommy is the most important! I just think that if that annoying woman Sophia wasn’t there, then Mommy could be with handsome Dad. Then I could be with Mommy, and handsome Dad could come to our house. It would be the best of both worlds!”

Ellinor tapped Adrian’s head in mock annoyance. “Dream on!”

Adrian hugged her tighter. “Mommy, stop pretending. I know you like handsome Dad too. When the time comes, you won’t need me to tell you to bring handsome Dad home, will you?”

Ellinor pulled a slight smile. This kid was quite perceptive.

She decided to wait before leaving with Adrian. The restroom was too close to Sophia’s table, and any hasty exit could easily be noticed.
