The phone had been ringing for a while before someone finally picked it up

“Hello?” Bryan Howard said cautiously, lowering his voice a bit. “Theo, I’m doing my homework What’s up?”

“It’s me.” Elinor chimed in.

“Elinor?” Bryan’s voice lifted a bit in surprise, then he quickly tried to soften it again, sounding slightly irritated. “Elinor, why are you calling me from Theo’s phone?”

“I was wondering is your sister at home? She asked

Bryan was a bit puzzled “Why? You need to see my sister?”

Elinor hesitated, feeling it was inappropriate to tell Bryan directly. “Theo Blanchet needs her right now. Could you check if she’s available to come over?

Bryan was even more confused. “My sister is abroad right now, it’ll take her a while to get back. Why does he need to see her? Why doesn’t he just call her himself?”

Her first instinct was to hand the phone to Theo, but given his current situation, she decided to answer it herself.
