The Kiss that Sparked it All (Ellinor and Theo) novel Chapter 1878

Chapter 1878

Baber blinked his large eyes and nodded, "Okay!"

Ellinor helped Baber to sit up in his bed and tucked him in before she began to speak, “Baber, what happened today was an accident, and it won't happen again. You need to remember the lessons learned from this experience, and to be more vigilant in the future. But promise me, don't let this incident leave a shadow in your heart, okay?"

Ellinor was comforting her son, fearing he might develop post-traumatic stress disorder.

Hearing his mom's words, Baber pouted, "But... it was so scary... Every time | close my eyes, | see that woman hitting me... Mom, can | be with you every day from now on? Can | never leave you?"

Seeing her once optimistic and sensible son frightened like this, Ellinor felt a pang in her heart. She gently stroked his head, “Silly child, your dad's back now, so | don’t have to work every day anymore and | can stay home with you and your siblings!"

"Really?" Baber seemed to be comforted at last, relaxing like he'd swallowed a tranquilizer.

Ellinor gently caressed his soft hair, "But, since Baber is still a child, Mom can be with you all the time. But when you grow up, Mom can't always be with you. You'll have to be independent. If Mom is with you all the time then, you'll get annoyed!"

Baber looked at her with unwavering determination, "I won't! | will never get tired of Mom. | want to be with you forever!"

Before Ellinor could respond, Theo strolled over and pinched his son's cheek, "Dream on, kiddo! Mom's going to be with me forever! When you grow up, find your own wife to cling to!"

Baber was taken aback, he looked up at his dad, then at his mom next to him, and finally smiled, "It's great that mom and dad are together again!"

Ellinor smiled at her son and turned her head to glare at Theo, "What are you telling the kid?"

Baber nodded.

Ellinor was relieved and patted her son's head approvingly. "You're so smart! How did you think to leave such an important clue for mom?"

Baber pouted, "| was so scared I'd never see you again. | remembered you once told me and my siblings that if we ever encountered bad people, we need to leave some kind of trace for you to find us. I was all tied up and couldn't leave any objects, so | left a scent.

That woman had her accomplice carry me down the mountain, and | peed a little every once in a while, all the way down.

Mom, you won't be disgusted with me, right?"

Ellinor shook her head, "How could mom ever be disgusted with you? | just think you're very clever. You're mom's good boy!"
