Every time Regina heard Madeline speak, it was like a cloud of gloom descended upon her. Initially, she couldn't figure out why, but then it dawned on her—it was probably because she couldn't stand the way Madeline kept dropping Nolan’s name as if he belonged to her.

Regardless of what the future held, Nolan was now her husband, fair and square.

Who did Madeline think she was, flaunting Nolan’s name around as if it was some kind of trophy?

Regina ignored her and walked directly towards Francis’ study. She had business to discuss with him.

But Madeline, relentless as ever, blocked her way at the door.

“Are you deaf? I’m talking to you.” she snapped.

Taking a deep breath, Regina turned around and looked down at her in feigned surprise. “Oh, were you speaking to me? Sorry, I must have missed it. Maybe it’s because you’re a bit on the short side.”

Madeline huffed, “Enjoy it while it lasts. Sooner or later, Nolan will be fed up playing the couple with you!

It’s not like you two have any real connection. He’d be better off without you. He was just unlucky enough to get tangled up with someone as shady as you.”

Regina couldn’t help but laugh. She was shady? What did that make Madeline then?
