Ellinor gave Patricia a light shove. Patricia reacted as if she’d been pushed with a lot of force, staggering back and almost falling over Patricia was trying to provoke Ellinor into lashing out, hoping to convince people that Ellinor was the one who had hurt the child

Balfour coldly looked at Ellinor and asked, “What did the child do to upset you? How could you treat a child who doesn’t understand things this way?!” 

Ellinor answered calmly, “Mr. Howard, I didn’t do what Patricia claims I did.” 

Balfour sneered, “You didn’t do it? Can anyone vouch for you?” 

Ellinor said, “Then call the cops!” 

She thought that, at that time, only she and Patricia were present. The waiter would definitely avoid responsibility, they wouldn’t own up to anything. 

Balfour felt disgusted by Ellinor’s defiant and unrepentant attitude.
