The Lawyer’s Romance in Law novel Chapter 228

Chapter 228 I Won't Let You Off

"Elias is right. Why silence him? You're the only fool here who can't see through this slumdog's intentions. He just wants to marry you so that he can live the rest of his life in wealth and luxury…"

However, before Jack could finish speaking, Stephanie interjected, retorting, "No, don't say that, Dad! It's not like that! Crisp didn't know I was an Allegra when he first met me. He knew nothing and just genuinely liked me!"

Crispin, too, defended himself, saying, "You can dislike me all you want, Mr. Allegra, but you can't insult my character like that. I—"

"Shut up! Don't go around thinking I'm oblivious to your intentions!" Jack didn't want to hear another word from the arguing slumdog.

Alas, her daughter remained oblivious.

On the other hand, Elias checked the time on his wristwatch; his time to watch the drama unfold had run out.

He spoke in a lazy and alluring voice while standing up. "Mr. Allegra, I'll move away from your family affairs for now. After all, I'm not your son-in-law yet. I still have matters to attend to at the office, so I'll be off now. Call me if anything."

With that, Elias walked out of the house, but Stephanie impeded him, grabbing him by the arm when he walked past her. "Elias, don't go! You promised me you'd save Crisp."

"Have I not done that?" Elias questioned, glancing icily at her. "Isn't your beloved Crisp right in front of you? What else do you want?"

"Yes, you saved him, but why did you bring him here? You knew my dad was at home!" Stephanie believed Elias had deliberately brought Crisp over to Allegra Villa.

At that, Elias pulled his arm back and retorted expressionlessly, "Why should I care? You're the one who likes him, not me. Why should I be so considerate? Should I also feed him, then?"

With that, he left without looking back, and Yacob followed closely behind.

"Elias Winters! Come back here, you son of a b*tch! You have no integrity!" Stephanie lashed out, having nowhere else to vent her anger. She didn't have the ability to save Crisp at present.

Her father would definitely send Crisp away again.

"Don't yell anymore, Steph. I'm fine, so don't worry about me. I won't give in even if they want to separate us!"

"I'm sorry, Crisp. It's all my fault. I've caused you trouble…"

Jack watched this scene of melodrama before him and suddenly felt a headache. "Enough! Stop playing this foolish romantic drama in front of me. Kid, let me tell you, my daughter is getting engaged at the end of the month. If you're any sensible, leave at once, and I won't pursue anything. Also, don't contact her anymore."

"Dad, are you letting Crisp go?" Stephanie's eyes lit up upon hearing her father's words. "Are you not going to send him away anymore?"

"As long as you two stop contacting each other, and you obediently get engaged at the end of the month and get married at the end of the year, I won't do anything to him. I have no interest in him. You need to understand that I just want you to marry into a good family."

Jack felt heartbroken. Everything he did was for his daughter's own good, yet she saw him as the villain. Alas, when would she finally see his good intentions?

"Thank you, Dad. I'll do as you say, I promise. I will get engaged and married as long as you let Crisp go." Stephanie had no other requests at this point. All that mattered now was that she wouldn't affect Crisp anymore. As for everything else, they could figure it out later.
