Chapter 339 Don’t Go
Amanda almost fell asleep on the couch in the seaside villa. She was exhausted since she was. too afraid to close her eyes to sleep earlier.
Now that she was in a safe place, she finally let her guard down. However, the aroma of the freshly-cooked food reached her.
She slowly opened her eyes. As expected, a plate of pasta was set on the coffee table before her. Elias watched her as he sat off to one side. From the look on his face, she could tell it wasn’t his intention to wake her.
She rubbed her eyes. “You should’ve woken me.”
“You look tired,” Elias murmured. “I didn’t want to disturb you.”
“But I’m starving. The pasta will get soggy if you leave it like that. It’ll affect the taste.” At that, Amanda straightened her body and leaned in to smell the food. Her stomach immediately growled.
He shook his head. “It’s okay. I can make you another one.”
Her hand reaching for the fork paused when she heard that. Then, she loaded a small amount of pasta onto the fork and took a bite. It tasted rather bland. It seemed to her that he was thinking about her injury.
However, it was delicious. Maybe I’m just hungry.
Amanda finished the pasta within a few minutes. Even the garnish didn’t go wasted, proving her to be starving.
She drew a tissue paper to wipe the corners of her lips before beginning her story, “The pair who kidnapped me were staying in somewhere named River Inn. The environment is dirty. You should send your men there. The two might still be there.”
He hummed.
“Besides, Crispin was the one who asked me to go with him. However, he said he left something behind when we were halfway there, so he asked me to go to the banquet hall on my own before he walked away. I was knocked out halfway. It has to do with him, but I don’t understand how my decision affects him. I believe Stephanie is the person behind everything.”
Stephanie is responsible for this. Crispin has nothing against me. He’s doing this to please her.
Elias narrowed his eyes. Deep in thought, he didn’t reply to her.

She couldn’t help but break the silence after waiting for him to speak for a long time. “What’s on your mind?”
“I’m just wondering, maybe everything is Crispin’s own doing. Stephanie isn’t involved. She knows nothing at all.”
He’s bad news. He won’t simply do it in the name of love. He must be up to something for kidnapping Amanda. After all, he won’t settle for being the live-in son-in-law of the Allegra Family.
However, Amanda had a different mindset from Elias. To her, Elias was defending Stephanie.
She was white with fury. There was a bite to her tone when she muttered, “Stephanie must. impress you a lot, huh? It’s not unlikely that she didn’t plan this. I’m giving Crispin the benefit. of the doubt. After all, what harm can I do to him even if I choose to return to the Allegra Family? It’s not like I’ll harm his interests. He has no reason to kidnap me.”
Amanda just didn’t get it. He’s a nobody.
Her misunderstanding gave Elias a hard time. He pondered for a few seconds before explaining, “Calm down, Amanda. Listen here, Crispin indeed has nothing against you, for now. But it changes the circumstances once he’s married to Stephanie. He becomes an Allegra. Before you came along, Stephanie was the only daughter. She was the heir to the family assets. But it’s different now. You’re back. You’re not in his original plan. Do you get it?”
The words sent a shiver down her spine.
She hadn’t thought about that. Is he speaking the truth? I thought Crispin’s love for Stephanie is sincere.
“I heard that Crispin and Stephanie almost eloped in the past. It proves that he doesn’t care about the family’s wealth. There’s no way he wants to stop me from returning to the family. I think he just wants to be with Stephanie.”
Elias scoffed at that. “You underestimate his ambition. He studied hard for his whole life. One day, he finally got the chance to climb the social ladder. Marrying Stephanie is the last step to reach the top of the social ladder. However, you got in his way. He won’t give up just like that.”
“Are you implying that Crispin is pretending to love Stephanie this whole time?”
Elias explained, “We’ll test him to get the answer. However, I’m suspicious of him. He’s not good.”
At that, he left the couch and stopped before her. “Let’s go. It’s time to sleep.”
“What are you doing?” She watched as he bent forward as if trying to tease her. She pulled

back out of reflex.
“I’ll carry you to the room. Remember your leg injury? You’re not going anywhere on your own like that.”
She hung her head low without a word.
I’m making too much of it.
In the end, she allowed him to carry her upstairs.
The echo of his footsteps resonated with her thumping heart. She couldn’t name it, but she was longing for his company tonight.
He escorted her to her room. After gently setting her on the bed, he tucked her in. “Get some rest. We’ll continue the discussion tomorrow.”
After that, he turned around to leave.
However, Amanda grabbed his wrist and whispered, “Don’t go. I don’t want to be alone.”
The fear of being drugged earlier lingered in her mind. The feeling that the culprits would come for her again if she fell asleep kept bothering her.
Elias stopped in his tracks. He looked down at the woman in the bed and teased, “Are you asking me to share a bed with you?”
He expected her to retort, but she only nodded, which surprised him. Hiding the rest of her body in the blanket, she poked her head out of the blanket obediently like a harmless bunny.
“You’ll regret it, Amanda.”
“I won’t. Just don’t go. Stay with me. I’m shocked to the core. The feelings just won’t go away.” Despite his warning, Amanda refused to let him go.
Elias fixed her with a level gaze. “Fine. This is what you asked for. Don’t regret this.”
