The Lawyer’s Romance in Law novel Chapter 385

Chapter 385 That’s What Love Is Like

Aiden looked up and fixed his gaze upon Jack’s face. “We’re waiting for Dad to come home. Mom says once he is back, we can go out and play together.”

As soon as they all heard the child’s words, suspicion arose within them. “What’s wrong? What happened?” Jack asked.

Amanda helplessly closed her eyes, secretly complaining about her son’s indiscretion to herself. Nonetheless, she still smiled and answered, “Nothing. It’s just an excuse because I’m too lazy to take him.

out.”

While Jack continued with his meal without saying a single word, Crispin, who was quietly listening all this while, seemed to notice something wrong Is Amanda afraid of that man in Sacred Heart Villa? This can be my leverage against her, but Amanda doesn’t seem to be afraid right now. So, the question is-how can I use that leverage to my advantage?

Not long after that, Jack asked, “By the way, Amanda, the contract of our legal advisor is expiring soon, and we haven’t found a suitable candidate yet. Thus, would you like to consider this offer? After all, I think you have what it takes to nail it.”

The moment Crispin heard Jack’s words, his face changed. It was then that he finally understood that Amanda was the reason Jack had been keeping him from joining his company. So, I guess I will never gain Jack’s trust even after I’ve become his son-in-law.

“I don’t think I can manage it, Dad. I’m already the legal advisor of Winters Enterprise, and I think being the legal advisor for two companies at the same time is going to pressure me a lot.”

“You’re a part of our family, and I doubt there is anyone else better for me to place my faith in when it comes to this offer. So, please don’t turn me down.” Jack was getting more and more convinced that Amanda had the potential to be his heir, feeling impressed with her mature thinking and excellent managerial skills.

In the end, Amanda helplessly agreed to her father’s offer, although she could tell that Jack was trying to pave the way for her to join his company.

Meanwhile, Stephanie, who was watching that, could only envy her sister. While Amanda was a professional and famous lawyer in the industry, Stephanie was starting to regret her initial decision to study dance. After all, there was no suitable position for her in Jack’s company, given her qualification.

After the meal, Crispin returned to the room with Stephanie and gave her a terrible scolding. “Look at yourself. Do you have any idea how much your qualification sucks? You could barely help out with anything at all in your father’s company. For that, there is nothing else we can do besides watching her join your father’s business empire. Can’t you see it? Your father is investing his resources in your sister!” Crispin was mad despite his inability to change the situation.

“So what? That company belongs to our family in the first place, so what’s wrong with Amanda joining it? Why do you want to get into my father’s company so desperately anyway?”

Crispin reacted with a snigger and said, “Do you seriously think I’m going to be happy with what I have now? Let me get this straight with you–I want to become more than just the Allegra Family’s son-in-law.” The man changed his clothes and made his way to school to start off his day after finishing his words.

As Stephanie heard the sound of the door being closed, she collapsed onto the ground, her eyes

panicky emotions. Crispin… He is eyeing the Allegra Family’s legacy and fortune… Oh god, what kind of person have I brought into our family?

In the meantime, Amanda accompanied Aiden in the garden where the child was so engrossed in playing. with his excavator ride. He then told Amanda that he wanted to be an excavator operator when he grew up, leaving his mother speechless.

Soon, Crispin walked closer to the duo and said, “Oh, so that’s what Aiden loves playing. Well, he is a boy. so that shouldn’t be surprising at all, I guess.” As Amanda ignored him and focused on her instead, Crispin walked closer to her and added, “You haven’t really left home at all recently. Is it all because of the man at Sacred Heart Villa?”

Amanda continued to ignore Crispin as she walked toward the rattan chair and sat down, taking a sip of tea from her cup. In response to the lady’s indifference, Crispin smiled and answered, “Oh, it looks like I guessed it right. Who is that man? Why are you so afraid of him that you won’t leave home?”

“Oh, dear Crispin, why are you still worrying about me even when you’re going to be in huge trouble soon?” Amanda intentionally intimidated Crispin, wanting the man to put a stop to his nonsense and get out of her hair.

As Amanda expected, Crispin began to turn panicky, squinting. “What do you mean? Why would I be in huge trouble?”

“Do you seriously think your plan is flawless and perfect? Or do you think my dad really trusts you without question? If he really trusts you, why didn’t he let you into his company? Haha…” Amanda intentionally didn’t finish her sentence, leaving Crispin hanging and guessing her message. She then rose from her seat and walked up to Aiden. “Aiden, drink some water. It’s so hot today, and you don’t want to end up getting a heatstroke.”

“Okay.” Aiden certainly enjoyed his time playing in the garden, but as he was sweating profusely, he began to feel thirsty and decided to get off his excavator.

On the other hand, Crispin found himselfbewildered and puzzled, wondering what Jack actually thought of him. Is he starting to suspect me for something? But I didn’t do anything wrong to him, did I? Amanda’s words successfully made Crispin doubt himself and overwhelmed him with a strong sense of insecurity.

Meanwhile, Elias could finally have a good sleep after a long day. After returning to his estate in New Montana, he swiftly took a shower and collapsed onto the bed. While he could have gone ahead and slept. until dawn, he thought about the call that Amanda gave him earlier that day, which put a smile on his face Therefore, he endured his exhaustion and grabbed his phone, giving Amanda a call. A few moments later, the call was answered, followed by Amanda’s lazy voice. “Why are you calling at this hour? It should be midnight over there.”

“Yup, I was going to sleep, but then I missed you too much.”

“So, how was everything? Good?” Amanda chuckled on the other side of the phone.

“Yeah, I think so. At least I can finally heave a sigh of relief, although I still have some unfinished business to take care of in the next few days. How is our son doing? Is he mad at me?”

“Of course he is. He is calling you a liar who always fails to keep his promise. He doesn’t even want to talk to you anymore.” Amanda’s voice sounded so coquettish that it was almost too confusing for Elias to tell
