KYLE’S POV

“How dare you!” He sneers. The spot he just smacked bites as though there are a thousand little ants on it. Anger brews in my veins as I stare down at him, but I will myself to stay calm. I cannot afford to lose my temper in front of Tessa. It's going to scare her and I don't want that.

“Father. I'm not here to discuss Alina. She's dead. She's gone. She's in the past. There's something else I'd like to tell you and mum. Where is she?”

“You are not going to see her!”

“Cool. I'm going to tell you. You can relay the news to her afterwards.” I turn to Tessa whose face has gone totally pale. She is begging me with her eyes not to do this, but I try to assure her with my eyes that everything is going to be okay. I step away from her so my father can see her. “Father, I want to introduce you to my fated mate, Tessa.” My tone is gloomy and anyone who's smart will know I'm not the least enthusiastic about what I'm doing right now.

The look on my father's face changes from anger to disgust.

“An ordinary werewolf? You are mated to an ordinary werewolf?”

“Her name is Tessa, father.”

“You really are not my son! No son of mine will be mated to an ordinary werewolf!”

“Werewolves are just as important as Lycans, father. You know that!”
