Lucian had been in the woods that night and had witnessed his niece change. He had stayed hidden as he did not want to draw attention to himself. He only observed to see how she handled the change and from what he saw; she did quite well if you were to consider the fact that she’d had no guidance from anyone.
He didn’t want to reveal himself to her just yet since he’d given her parents a chance to come clean. But happiness filled his heart as he came to the realization that he’d finally found his long-lost niece and as an added bonus it looks like she’d inherited her grandmother’s gift after all. Yes, undoubtedly, she was the ultimate werewolf, more powerful than an alpha, even a Lycan and she was of their pack. She belonged to the Crescent moon Pack. Lucian felt proud as though Luna was his very own daughter. She might as well be. All they had were each other. For now, they were alone, separate, until the truth is revealed to her.
Luna will definitely need his guidance as she would have to join the pack in order to choose a mate. But she wouldn’t want to join the pack knowing what the last alpha had done to her family. Although Lucian had wanted to fight the alpha, he didn’t want the burden of running the pack. It did help when he finally came to his senses and put out a command to hunt down the witch who he finally believed poisoned him after being informed by a half witch in the tribe. He always wanted the freedom to come and go in the pack as he pleased allowing him to have ample time to search for his family and the witch who had brought death to them.
Someday he would find the witch who broke up his family all for the love of an Alpha who didn’t choose to love her. He’d been robbed of a life with his niece and robbed his brother of his life. She must have known that his brother was searching for proof that she framed his wife and he must have found something. That is why he is dead. Lately the alpha of crescent moon pack had been leaning on Lucian as he did in the old days before all this ugliness. He hoped that they would welcome his niece into the pack and at least he would have an ally to help him find the truth. Luna did look like she had a good head on her shoulders and had proven to be quite strong; a survivor at that. He looked forward to seeing her at school. The goddess had blessed him and placed her in his path. Now more than ever, he believed that the goddess had not deserted him.
He had given them an ultimatum and the clock was ticking. He actually gave them the easy way out. He would not make trouble. He would not file a kidnapping charge thus keeping them out of jail, allowing Michael to keep his job at the police station and allowing all those involved to stay out of prison because what those people had done was downright cruel. She could have allowed him to see his niece, to be a part of her life but no she wanted to keep her all to herself causing her more harm though they had no idea how much harm they had caused Luna.
Time was of the essence and she needed to know. She was old enough to make her own decisions. She needed to make the right decision. She needed to come home with him. He had no doubt that she would. She is very confused right now and needs answers that only he could provide. Luna would have a long journey ahead of her but with the proper guidance she would be just fine.
He looked at her in wolf form and marveled. She was so much like his mother. It was almost as if she had been reborn into Luna. She was truly a special wolf. She needed to train with the other wolves and most importantly she needed to prepare for the ritual to find a mate. The sooner a ware wolf finds his or her mate the better. The packs need to increase their numbers. Since his brother and sister-in-law were cast out it was as if the moon goddess had cursed the pack. Not many couples were blessed with children and their numbers had been dwindling. Hopefully when Luna returns to the pack the curse will break and things would get better. The night was young and Luna was exploring the woods, running and howling away. Lucian saw that she was alright and ran off as he didn’t want to be around when she changed back. He didn’t need to see her shift in order to respect her privacy. He took off at the speed of light up the mountain. He ran enjoying the feel of the wind on his fur and stopped when he came to an old hut that seemed deserted on the top of the hill. Lucian went around the hut and found a faint scent. He entered the hut and in the midst of the dirt and broken furniture he found a bottle with the same poison used to frame his sister-in-law. How rare is that. In Attica his brother was stabbed in the chest with a silver knife laced with wolfsbane. The very same poison found in this hut.
It was no coincidence that he had stumbled upon this. He explored the hut closer only to find a witch’s grimoire partially burned. But he could still make out the emblem on it. He could not believe it. This belonged to his sister in law’s best friend’s family. She was the witch that framed her. What was she doing in those parts? She was gone but no doubt that she followed them here and he was almost sure that she was responsible for his brother’s death.
After all these years, things were actually starting to come together. He’d found his brother although dead he’s found him. Years later he’d found his niece and to add icing to the cake he was blessed with a scent for the Witch who killed his family. He left immediately for his pack to report his findings and evidence to his Alpha in order to track down the murderer faster. He needed the help of the pack. They would have to search to find her and he would not be able to on his own as he needed to keep an eye on Luna now more than ever. If this Witch knew that Luna was alive, she may try to harm her out of spite. Now that the protection her mother had cast was wearing off, she would be easily found for such a powerful witch. He would not lose her. He would protect her at all cost.
