Luca was distraught. He was so angry at Soccorah and Nancy right now for putting them and everything that they believed at risk like that. What infuriated him the most was the fact that they never consulted him. In his father’s absence he was in charge. Was it because he showed a bit more interest in school and his inheritance? Was he losing the respect of his pack simply because he’d chosen to be educated in the human realm? Or was it simply because he was seen as a half breed.
Luca had to get out of the house. He was so angry that he just needed to run. He bust through the back door and jumped over the fence and headed toward the woods. What would he tell his father? How could he tell his father that he was forced to reveal himself to an unsuspecting human? No one would want to follow him in his father’s absence. He would be mocked and shunned by his pack. His father would be forced to punish him to keep his position as alpha and all because of Soccorah and Nancy. The two persons other than his father whom he considered family.
They went behind his back and he couldn’t bring himself to forgive them. At least if he could find Luna, they could wipe her memory with a potion but she got away from him. This also puzzled him. He was the fastest in his pack, faster than even his father who was a full blooded Lycan. How could Luna be faster than him?The mere thought of that perplexed him. Luca ran and ran till he got to the creek in the woods where he transformed and became human again. He sat beneath a large oak tree on the bank of the creek and stared at the water. The sound of the stillness of the water calmed him. Nature had a way with him. For some reason he was at peace with nature. He loved the simple complexity of it all.
He needed to relax and calm himself before he could decide what to do about this whole situation. He needed to rethink the events of the night. This was supposed to be a great night. He was taken aback by Luna’s beauty. She’d managed to occupy his thoughts and he wanted her. But now they were faced with this ugliness. It wouldn’t have been possible anyway. She was human after all. If she had been anything else she would have defended herself instead of running. That was his predicament. Luca son of the Lycan prince had fallen in love with a human. It was bad enough that his father had him with a human which made him half human but now he had fallen in love with one whom he would probably never see again in his life.
As he lay under the tree lost in his thoughts for what seemed to be hours, he was disturbed by a rustling in the bushes nearby. Luca got to his feet and headed full force into the bushes from where the sound emanated and was ready to pounce when he realized that it was Soccorah. “What the hell are you doing out here by yourself. Don’t you know how dangerous the woods are? You can’t transform what if you were attacked?” Luca shouted at her as he was already pissed at them because of what happened at dinner. “Well, I wanted to find you to apologize. I never meant for this to happen. That soup was meant for Luna. She was meant to have it. It would have been harmless to her. We wanted to be sure that she was supernatural and the potion in the soup was to force her to reveal her true self. We never meant for things to go wrong. We never expected this outcome. We respect you and your father we would never defy or betray you.”
