Lucian walked back to his office unable to calm his mind as he remembered the extraordinary white-haired girl who’d walked into his gym class today. She was the spitting image of his grandmother with the same white-haired deficiency. She was great. The precision she exhibited at climbing that rope, her blue eyes. Could she be his long-lost niece? His brother had left their pack after their Alpha was poisoned by a Witch when he didn’t return her affection and chose a wolf from his pack instead of marrying her. The pack members had thought him responsible as he was married to a Witch himself.
Lucian’s brother and his wife had fled before the alpha could cast him out as he knew whoever was responsible would later come for his wife. In order to cover their tracks, he’d cut all ties with the pack and the only way to do that was to stay away from his little brother Lucian. No one had heard of him or the child after his sister-in-law had died casting a very powerful protection spell on their child. They knew that’s what happened after her body was found a few weeks after they fled with a note explaining their innocence and reason for leaving. There was no trace of His brother or the child.
Lucian was heartbroken as he’d grown quite fond of his little niece. He never forgave the pack for not giving them the opportunity to explain. It was to find his family that Lucian had left the pack and come to Attica to teach Gym shortly after he heard about his brother’s death. When he went to get the body, he had spoken to his brother’s new woman who was human and she was not exactly welcoming and denied the fact that they had a child. He remembered following her for weeks but saw no evidence of a child and eventually gave up.
After all those years of searching he was elated to have finally found the child. This girl was definitely his little Luna. He just had to prove it. If she was and didn’t know it then she wouldn’t know that she may be a werewolf with Hecate’s blood. She would not know what was normal to them and what was not. He would have to keep a close eye on her and would have to find a way to get close to her to protect her. He stared at his computer screen as he contemplated the best approach. He didn’t have any solid proof but, in his heart, he could recognize his family anywhere and Luna was definitely his family.
He had beaten himself up every day since they fled the pack. If only he had gone with them, if only he’d done more to protect his family. Maybe they would have been all together. Maybe his brother and sister-in-law would not have had such terrible fates. He would have had a relationship with his niece and she would not have been a complete stranger.
It had to be his little Luna. The coincidences were too many. She would have been 17-years-old. She is the spitting image of his grandmother; same blue eyes and it looks like her wolf has just started to emerge. That would explain why he was able to find her. If her mother had cast a protection spell on her it would have broken when her wolf broke free as protection spells wore off after the bearer is able to protect themselves.
Lucian decided to observe her the following day and then he would visit his brother’s old house. He needed to know why that woman had lied to him about his niece. After all she had not even been legally married to his brother. Lucian had been next in line to assume guardianship of Luna had anything happened to his brother and sister-in-law. He felt like he had let them down. He needed to make this right. He needed to find some way to help her understand and accept the changes that she would be experiencing. He stared down at his notebook and the notes that he had made. Luna would definitely be exceptional especially if she had inherited her grandmother’s gift which Lucian highly suspected given the white hair mutation. Luna’s grandmother was a great white wolf. She was very powerful and no alpha wolf or Lycan could test their power. They were wolves but were believed to be sent by the goddess herself. They were stronger, faster, smarter and also possessed the power to manipulate the elements. Given the fact that Luna had the mutation and was the daughter of a witch: he was just so sure how much this child needed guidance that her adopted parents could not provide. Matter of fact he was sure that if her gifts had started to manifest that they may have already started to punish her treat her differently.
Lucian packed up his things and made his way home having made up his mind while silently thanking the goddess for the bestowed blessing of crossing paths with his niece. He would get the proof but deep down he knew that he was right and that the white-haired girl was his little Luna.
She would definitely need training and an education away from the general public as she knew nothing of, her species and how to control her wolf. All of these things needed to be taught to Luna in order for her to not reveal herself to the human world. She needed a place to run freely without the fear of being caught. She needed to learn to shift whenever necessary and not just during a full moon. There was so much that she needed to learn. She needed to train to enhance her abilities not hold back her abilities for fear of being looked at as a freak. Luna needed to be among her kind and that was the bottom line. He didn’t care who it hurt but Luna needed to know the truth and he would ensure that she was told if it’s the last thing he did. He silently thanked the goddess for giving him the patience to remain in Attica in spite of the fact that he knew that he was leaving everything behind. He had been in Attica for the past nine years. He would leave off an on to check in on the pack and the progress made with finding the witch responsible for poisoning the Alpha and placing the blame on his sister-in-law but he was thankful that he never gave up the hope of finding his niece.
