Following this line of thought, Kathleen became more and more alarmed.
She hurriedly sat up from the bathtub as panic struck her. Flustered, she whispered t o herself, "Mr. Larson is a six-star martial artist. If he can't see any cultivation in Charlie, then there are only two possibilities. Either Charlie has no cultivation at all, or he must be above a six-star martial artist!”
"If he's above a six-star martial artist, he might not necessarily be a seven-star martial artist. There might be no limit!"
"If Mr. Larson has really been killed or is under Charlie's control, then Charlie’s cultivation level would have already reached the Dark Realm, just as Master
Yant said!
"He was also the one who chose the place w e ate tonight. He chose such a remote place deliberately! Did he really do that just to let me taste the local specialties?”
"Coincidentally, there was only a problem with the surveillance cameras around the location that he chose and thus, no valuable information was found!"
"Plus, Charlie wasn't with me the entire time. He went out to answer a phone call halfway through the meal! If he’s a Dark Realm expert, then the time he supposedly spent answered the call should be sufficient for him to make a move on Mr. Larson!”
As she thought of this, Kathleen felt her heartbeat suddenly accelerating twice its usual rate. It beat so rapidly, it even caused a sharp pain in her chest!
She knew very well that if her guess was right, it would prove that everything Charlie did to her was just a show or a deliberate attempt to confuse her.
Kathleen's panic rose.
There was only one possibility as to why Charlie would put on a show in front of her. Charlie had already seen through her! He knew her true motives, so he wanted to beat her at her own game.
If Charlie really saw through her, then it proved that her mission in Aurous Hill was a complete failure.
After all, Kathleen and her grandfather originally intended to use this as a double insurance approach. Even if this path was blocked, at the very least, it wouldn’t affect her grandfather's right to participate in the auction.
As long as Charlie was unaware of her true identity, she wouldn't follow her
grandfather to participate in this auction. Just like that, she could just isolate one risk.
As Kathleen thought of this, she picked up her cell phone immediately and called her grandfather. As soon as the call was connected, she said hurriedly, "Grandpa, I'm at the risk of being exposed. I won’t be contacting you anymore until the end of the auction. You don’t need to contact me, either. Bring another person to accompany you to the venue when you come to the auction in a few days' time. I won't be participating.”
Jordan was shocked. "What's going on? Did something unexpected happen again?"
"No," Kathleen said truthfully, "I'm afraid m y identity might have been exposed to the owner of the Rejuvenating Pill. I suspect he's the mastermind behind Mr. Larson's disappearance. I might have angered him. I f I let him find out about our relationship, I fear it would affect your participation in the auction."
