Twenty minutes later, Charlie arrived at Shangri-La first.
When he had just arrived in the presidential suite, Albert quickly came to report, “Master Wade, Chief Lammy is here.”
Charlie nodded. “Let him in.”
Albert hurriedly ushered in Merlin, who was dressed in casual clothes.
As soon as Merlin saw Charlie, he clasped one of his hands over the other respectfully and said, “Hello, Young Master Wade!”
Charlie smiled slightly and then pointed at the sofa in front of him as he said, “Please have a seat, Chief Lammy. Didn’t I give you a week to be reunited with your family? Why are you planning to go to Syria so soon?”
Merlin laughed at himself and sighed as he said, “My daughter and son-in-law are busy looking for cars and houses every day, so they don’t have much time for me. I don’t want to continue wasting time in Houston, so I plan to head to Syria first. I want to meet with the man that you caught last time and find out some details from him.”
When Charlie saw that Merlin looked a little despondent, he smiled knowingly and said, “Chief Lammy, people have seven emotions and six desires. Material desire is one of the important ones. People work hard to make money because they want a better life. Material desires account for at least half of it, so it’s not entirely a bad thing if young people pursue material desires and life enjoyment. You shouldn’t be too bothered by this.”
“Yes...” Merlin sighed softly and nodded helplessly. He also knew that Charlie was right, but he was inevitably still a little disappointed.
Charlie persuaded him and then digressed as he asked, “Chief Lammy, have you thought about what you’re going to use as an entry point to investigate that mysterious organization this time? According to the confession that I’ve gotten before, the mysterious organization has extremely tight information protection, so I’m afraid it’s not that easy to find any clues about them.”
