Ever since Charlie had confirmed that the Schulz family had nothing to do with the death of his parents, he had never thought of taking the life of anyone from the Schulz family. He could even spare Sheldon’s life, not to mention Jaime.
He had also asked people to secretly protect Jaime on Helen and Sophie’s account. The pilgrimage to Jordan Temple was not the same as Dylan cycling on a bicycle to Aurous Hill. The latter had a bicycle, and he would also be passing through the most economically developed areas in Oskia. As long as he did not pedal blindly on the highway, there would basically be no danger to Dylan’s life.
However, it was different for Jaime. The environment all the way to the west would get worse and worse, and there would be danger everywhere if he was not careful. Charlie would not be able to explain things to Helen and Sophie if Jaime died on the way if he did not secretly protect Jaime.
Jaime also knew that Charlie had not asked people to protect him because he was really being kind to him. Charlie had only done so on his mother and sister’s account.
But even so, he was still grateful to Charlie for making him come to his senses from the person he used to be.
Therefore, he said to Charlie with incomparable piousness, “Mr. Wade, no matter what your purpose is, I still want to thank you for your kindness!”
Charlie looked at him and said indifferently, “It seems that you have come to your senses and returned as the prodigal son. If you don’t want to continue the pilgrimage after this, it can be terminated.”
When Charlie said this, Jaime, Helen, and Sophie were all surprised.
Jaime even thought that he had heard wrongly. He would never have dreamt that Charlie would allow him to stop the pilgrimage. After all, he had only walked one-third of the way, and it was also the easiest part of the whole pilgrimage. The remaining two-thirds of the way was the most challenging part. As the altitude became higher and higher, the road ahead would also become more and more difficult. It would not be an exaggeration to say that Jaime would be able to avoid at least eighty percent of hardships if he stopped the pilgrimage now.
Charlie did not say these words out of complete sincerity.
