In order not to alarm the others, Jared kept his thoughts to himself.
“Can I join you? If I can't, I hope that you will keep my identity a secret still.”
Hefe gave Jared a look of anticipation because it was obvious to him that Jared was the leader among the four.
“All right, I'll let you join us. In the event of danger, I hope that we'll be able to help each other out,” Jared said to Hefe.
Jared's agreement made Hefe smile. His eyes began to fill with determination and trust for the group.
Everyone else seemed oblivious to the newly formed alliance as they continued deeper into the mountains.
As the aura exuded by demon beasts grew in intensity, everyone drew their weapons and gave their surroundings a vigilant look.
Some of those who were lacking in courage already had cold sweat breaking out on their foreheads.
Nonetheless, Francois and Brutus remained unfazed despite venturing deeper into the mountains.
From their relaxed expressions, Jared could tell how formidable both of them were.
“Awoo!”
All of a sudden, the cry of a demon beast caused everyone to stop in their tracks. A Demon Wolf with a body that looked like a yak threw itself at them.
It was obvious from its appearance that the Demon Wolf was menacingly strong. Otherwise, it wouldn't have dared to attack the group all by itself.
Seeing that, Ali and the rest brandished their weapons anxiously.
However, just as the Demon Wolf reached them, Francois fired a flash of white light with a wave of his right hand.
The Demon Wolf howled in agony before rolling on the ground and breathing its last.
The sight of Francois killing a Demon Wolf with a single wave of his hand shocked everyone.
