Chev and the others were all wounded after they killed the bloodthirsty beast. At the same time, their auras were all messed up.
After they retrieved the beast core from it, Chev was sitting nearby to catch his breath.
When he saw that Francois and Brutus had returned unexpectedly fast, he couldn't help asking curiously, “Why are you guys back so soon? Where's Grus Divina?”
“The other group took it, and we lost them!” Francois replied frustratedly.
Seeing that Francois didn't return with Grus Divina, Chev instantly went on his guard.
“Why did you guys come back without Grus Divina? Why didn't you chase after them?” Chev questioned Francois.
“How were we supposed to do that? They were long gone when we got there!” After saying that, Francois swept a glance at the bloodthirsty beast's carcass and uttered plainly, “Brutus and I contributed to killing this bloodthirsty beast. Besides, it wouldn't have died if not for the effect of the Weakening Pills. Now that the bloodthirsty beast is dead, I think we're entitled to our share of the loot.”
Chev let out a scoff when he heard those words. “Francois, you're just so full of crap, aren't you?”
Upon hearing that scornful remark, Brutus roared, “What do you mean?”
Francois immediately stopped Brutus from having a go at Chev. We're outnumbered, and we've exhausted ourselves by fighting against that bloodthirsty beast. If we were to fight Chev and the others now, we might not necessarily win.
“Chev, I know I told you I would give the bloodthirsty beast to you. However, we couldn't retrieve Grus Divina. You can't possibly let us go back empty-handed, can you?” Francois asked in a low tone. He even sounded like he was pleading.
