Since Abigail had come to bail me out, there was no point in holding onto my pride. I just followed her without saying much.
Once we were outside, I politely thanked her. I said, "Thanks for helping me out. I'll be on my way now."
But Abigail grabbed my arm furiously. She glared at me with cold eyes and asked in a low, stern voice, "Samuel, how much longer are you going to stir up trouble?"
"Stir up trouble?" I couldn't help but laugh at her question. I looked at her in amusement and raised an eyebrow. "What trouble have I caused?"
Abigail's eyes narrowed as she stared at me, and after a long pause, she finally asked, "Why did you hit Joshua? Don't you know he makes a living from his looks?"
I gave a cold laugh and nodded. "Yeah, I know. That's exactly why I hit him. What else was I supposed to do when he..."
"Samuel!" Abigail suddenly raised her voice, her expression filled with disgust.
"I think you're doing this on purpose! If you have a problem with me, just tell me. Why are you making life harder for someone who has nothing to do with this?"
I was almost in disbelief. She thought that I was making things difficult for no reason.
Was she serious?
I looked at her with mockery as I coldly replied, "So, what do you want me to do about it?"
Fuming, Abigail stepped right in front of me. Without warning, she raised her hand and slapped me hard across the face.
I staggered back. There was a metallic taste in my mouth as blood dripped from the corner of my lip.
I could feel my energy draining fast as the pain coursed through my body. But Abigail only looked at me with an expression that said I deserved it as she coldly stated, "Samuel, remember this. This is the consequence of laying your hands on Joshua!"
Without another word, she got into the car and drove off, leaving me standing there.
