The Marriage She Turned into War novel Chapter 145

George truly was my best friend. After just a few casual exchanges, he quickly sensed that something was wrong.

"Samuel, is something going on?"

His voice on the other end of the line was tense, with a hint of worry breaking through.

"With your current health, you really can't afford to be careless," he said seriously. "You need to stick to your checkups so that the doctors can monitor your condition properly."

His concern warmed my heart.

I smiled faintly and agreed, but George's tone suddenly turned stern.

"Samuel, I'm not joking. You need to take this seriously. The last thing I want is to hear about you through a critical condition notice!"

A bitter laugh escaped me. "Alright. I get it. But I know my own body. These episodes probably won't stop happening. I'll just have to rely on you for a while longer."

George fell silent for a long time before he finally spoke again, his voice tight with emotion.

"Samuel, you're my best friend. I don't want anything to happen to you. Please take care of yourself, okay?"

Before I could answer, he added softly, "I'm already waiting for you at the hospital's entrance. Come here right now. I'll go with you for your checkup."

"Alright," I agreed and immediately hailed a cab to the hospital.

George didn't originally work at this hospital, but he had arranged for a transfer just to take care of me.

After the checkup was done, George finally let out a relieved sigh. He handed me the report, his voice firm with instruction as he said, "Follow the doctor's advice. Your condition looks stable for now, so keep it that way, alright?"

I smiled and nodded. "Got it. Thanks, George. When things calm down for you, I'll treat you to dinner."

George shook his head with a helpless smile. "Just focus on getting better. That'll make me happier than any meal you could buy me."
