The Marriage She Turned into War novel Chapter 147

Even after I had laid everything out clearly, Abigail had still stared at me with a look of disgust.

Her eyes had been filled with disdain as she asked with biting sarcasm, "Samuel, don't you think you're being ridiculous? Tell me, what exactly did I do? Did you actually see anything? Just because you saw a man walking out of my office, you assume that I'm cheating on you and no longer love you?"

"I…"

Her questions had left me speechless. I could only stand there with tears welling up in my eyes.

Yet, even as my world crumbled, her gaze had remained cold and indifferent, as though I were the one throwing a pointless tantrum, utterly disregarding her feelings and making a scene without restraint.

"Samuel, wake up. Stop stirring up trouble where there isn't any," she had said. "My work is exhausting enough. I don't have the time or patience to deal with your drama."

Stirring up trouble?

Those words had pierced through me like a knife. I couldn't believe that Abigail would say something so cruel.

Despair had clouded my eyes as I looked at her, filled with disbelief and hurt.

How could she say that? Hadn't she once told me that she couldn't imagine life without me, that I should never leave her?

It seemed that she had forgotten those words completely.

I had clearly caught her in the act, yet she had still stubbornly refused to admit it. Worse, she had even played the victim first. She had twisted the blame back onto me, making me out to be the villain.

Tears had blurred my vision then, making it hard to see her clearly, just as I could no longer recognize the woman who stood before me, the woman who was supposed to be my wife.
