The Marriage She Turned into War novel Chapter 198

When I saw the message Abigail had sent, I couldn't help but feel a little foolish. I should have realized that she was constantly playing games with me. It was one of her usual tactics.

When I first married Abigail, she had used the same method to wear down my patience and extinguish my expectations. She loved watching the look of disappointment on my face and the anger when it showed.

I recalled the day when Abigail had called me on my birthday. She gently told me to come home early and that we would celebrate my birthday in the evening.

At the time, I had been excited to see what kind of surprise she had prepared for me. So, I got home early and made a feast for her.

I waited from five in the afternoon until nine in the evening. I waited until the food had cooled, and I had reheated it several times, but Abigail still had yet to come home.

Feeling frustrated, I called her to ask why she hadn't returned yet. She told me that she had an urgent matter at work and was working overtime.

I became angry and asked why she hadn't told me in advance. I had spent all that time preparing, and now not only was the birthday ruined, but I felt like it was all in vain.

Abigail coldly asked, "Samuel, are you being unreasonable? I'm busy with work every day, and overtime can come up at any time. What do you want me to do? Can't you be more understanding as a man?"

I didn't know how to continue talking to her. When she heard my silence, she angrily hung up the phone.

My birthday was ruined entirely because of her. I sat at the table, ate the cold food I had prepared, and felt nothing but pain.

Just then, a trending news headline appeared on my phone.
