"Yes, I love it," Abigail replied as her eyes sparkled.
She walked up to me, but she made no move to take the necklace. Instead, she smiled and pointed to her neck. "Put it on for me."
She had a stunning figure, with curves at all the right places and a graceful neck that made her difficult to ignore. Every gesture she made was brimming with an alluring charm that was hard to resist.
However, I didn't want to have any more physical contact with her than necessary. Without hesitation, I pushed the necklace into her hand and shook my head.
"The outfit you're wearing today doesn't suit this necklace. You can put it on yourself some other time."
I refused her request outright, yet she was not angry in the slightest.
Instead, she came even closer to me, staring intently at me, and her lips curled into a gentle smile.
"What's wrong? Are you afraid that if we get too close, you won't be able to control yourself?"
At that moment, she boldly closed the gap between us and got up to my face.
She placed the necklace in my hand. Her gentle gaze locked with mine as she chuckled lightly, "Samuel, why are you so afraid to have physical contact with me?"
"I-I'm not!" I quickly shook my head and denied it outright.
However, Abigail persisted. She cupped her hands around my cheeks and stared at me intently. Her tone was filled with tenderness as she asked, "Tell me the truth. Do you still love me?"
Did I still love her? When I heard those words from her mouth, they felt strangely alien.
Since when did the idea of loving become so impossible to entertain? The feelings between us had long since eroded away.
