The Marriage She Turned into War novel Chapter 263

"If you're Ms. Bardot's husband, how can you not understand how hard she works?"

I couldn't focus on anything the security guard was saying. I was too anxious as I tried to explain, "Our sister is sick and urgently needs to be admitted to the hospital. She needs immediate care."

Before I could say more, the security guard shot me a disdainful glance, his expression filled with contempt. "Oh, so you want Ms. Bardot to help you, is that it?" His tone oozed with disrespect and condescension.

I looked at him seriously, my voice tight with desperation. "I really don't have time for this. I need to see Abigail."

Before I could step past him, he grabbed me and twisted it into a lock, pinning me to the ground. Pain shot through my arm, and I couldn't help but groan in agony.

The security guard smirked, his eyes gleaming with smug satisfaction. "Seriously? You think you can just barge into the company like this? You've got guts, I give you that!

"Anyway, I've never heard of Ms. Bardot having a sister. I'm pretty sure you're trying to sneak in and steal company secrets," he said, sneering.

He pulled out his walkie-talkie and called for backup, clearly intending to have me detained.

Just then, Sophia appeared. She frowned at the guard, and her sharp voice cut through the tension. "What do you think you're doing? This is Ms. Bardot's husband! How dare you treat him like this?"

At that time, Sophia was still Abigail's assistant. The guard's demeanor changed instantly. His hostility was replaced with reluctant respect as he murmured, "Ms. Smith."

After she got the guard to release me, Sophia brought me to the office and politely explained that Abigail was in a meeting.

Frustrated and out of options, I confided in Sophia about my urgent situation.

Understanding the gravity of the situation, Sophia reached out to her uncle, who worked at the hospital. With her connection, she managed to arrange a temporary room for Kayla. Thanks to her, Kayla's condition finally stabilized.
