It was human nature. But at this point, I didn't want to bring up the past anymore.
No matter what I said, Abigail wasn't going to believe me. Since she refused to trust me, I didn't want to waste my breath. After all, I would just be looking for trouble if I did that.
I remained calm and didn't want to talk about it anymore, but Abigail still blocked my path, refusing to let me leave.
She stared at me intently and suddenly smiled. "I'm asking because I care about you."
Her expression turned serious as she gently added, "Next time, just tell me where you want to go. As your wife, it's my responsibility to keep you company. Don't you think so?"
Her words made me feel uneasy. I wondered what she meant. Was she trying to keep me at home so she could continue to torment and humiliate me?
Abigail's company had been going through a busy period. She was preparing to open a new branch, so she should be swamped with work and shouldn't have the time to accompany me. I wondered why she was telling me this.
I looked at her with confusion and asked, "You're about to open a new branch. Shouldn't you be busy? How do you have time to accompany me?"
Abigail shook her head gently and said, "I've already delegated all the tasks, and the management team will handle these matters. As the boss, I can't stay at my post all the time. I need some time for myself too."
After she said that, she looked at me gently and added, "Besides, there's something more important I need to focus on."
