Although Joshua's expression was full of pain, the fleeting flash of smugness in Joanna's eyes didn't escape me.
It seemed that Abigail had been avoiding Joshua for some time.
I didn't know how long it had been since they last saw each other. What I did know was that, over the past few days, Joshua had been asking around everywhere for news about Abigail.
Several junior colleagues at the company had already told me one thing—Joshua was practically losing his mind trying to find Abigail!
He must have figured that Abigail often came to the hospital to visit Lana. Thus, he purposely showed up here and hoped to bump into her.
But instead of Abigail, he ran into me!
Joshua intentionally provoked me. He was trying to get me to make a move against him. Then, he and Joanna would use their usual old tricks to blow the whole thing out of proportion.
If the incident became big enough and caused a stir online, Abigail would inevitably see it. She would then feel sorry for Joshua and reach out to him.
Joshua had used this tactic many times before to track down Abigail. And frankly, I had grown used to it.
This time, however, I didn't just refrain from exposing Joshua. I even played along and helped him put on this little show.
In truth, my real motive was to see if Abigail still cared about Joshua.
Recently, there hadn't been anyone new in Abigail's life. She seemed to be placing all her emotional reliance on me.
It had been quite a while since I'd seen her try to reconnect with Joshua. Hence, I wanted to know if she was playing some new game with him.
Joshua's arm was broken by my kick, and he cried out in pain with tears and snot streaming down his face. With Joanna's support, he hobbled straight to the orthopedics department.
