I was stunned by what Sophia had said. Unable to hold back my curiosity, I hesitated before asking, "What did you just say?"
Sophia let out an awkward laugh. She was clearly not intending to explain further. Instead, she softly said, "Samuel, just remember this. No matter what happens, as long as you need me, I will always be by your side to support you."
What she said left me deeply moved. But before I could even thank her, she had already hung up.
I wasn't sure what Sophia's words were supposed to mean. However, I had a nagging feeling that something was happening, something I wasn't aware of.
I started wondering if it had anything to do with Abigail or Joshua.
Could it be that all of Abigail's actions were just a ruse? Could it be that, deep down, she still couldn't let go of Joshua?
But if that were the case, what was her purpose in doing all of this?
Was it just to humiliate me again? To strike me down one more time?
No matter how much I thought about it, I couldn't find an answer.
That evening, I prepared a meal for Abigail according to her preferences, including four dishes and a soup.
I waited until 11:00 pm, but she still hadn't returned. The food grew cold, so I reheated it. Then it went cold again, and I reheated it once more. Each time, I felt like it was chipping away at my patience.
I held my phone. My heart filled with a strong urge to call Abigail and ask where she was and when she'd be back.
But as I gripped the phone, a voice echoed in my mind, urging me not to bother Abigail.
"Didn't you learn anything from all the foolish things you've done in the past? Abigail has already told you countless times how much she hates being bothered for no reason. Samuel, think carefully. Don't do anything stupid."
