The Marriage She Turned into War novel Chapter 349

Although Jane had left, I knew she was still in the kitchen, straining her ears to catch any sound from my room. The moment she detected even the slightest movement from me, she would report it to Abigail without delay.

I was fully aware that Abigail kept track of everything I did at home. She had long instructed Jane to keep a close watch on me and report every detail. Every event in this house eventually reached Abigail's ears.

After silently packing my belongings, I grabbed my suitcase and prepared to leave. Before stepping out, I cast one last glance at the bedroom.

This room had been designed by Abigail and me together. She wanted a warm and cozy home, so we painted the walls a soft yellow. On the bedside table sat a photo of the two of us.

Even in the picture, Abigail refused to show any warmth. Her face was cold and distant, as though taking the photo had been an obligation.

Back then, I had thought that Abigail was going through some difficulties. That was the explanation I had given myself for her attitude.

I understood everything. Her actions weren't born out of hardship or personal struggles. They were deliberate, calculated moves that were meant to punish me. She had never loved me.

It was both laughable and deeply tragic.

I placed the photo face-down on the bedside table before walking out.

As I reached the door, I could still hear Jane asking how long I would be gone and whether she should prepare dinner.

Waving her off calmly, I said, "No need. I won't be coming back to this house."

My words left Jane stunned. She stared at me, her face frozen in shock.

"Mr. Gebb, what are you saying? This is your home with Mrs. Gebb. How could you not come back?" she stammered, frantically trying to stop me.

Her efforts were in vain. My decision was final. No one could convince me otherwise.
