I had always maintained a lukewarm attitude toward Blair. Although she was the client, I didn't want to get involved with her. This kind of ambiguous relationship wouldn't do us any good.
There were a lot of problems between me and Abigail lately. If she found out that I got closer to Blair because of our collaboration, I guessed that she might give me a hard time again.
I had had enough of Abigail's constant nagging. Things had finally calmed down recently. If that issue caused me trouble again, I wouldn't be able to live in peace.
I sighed, looking helpless. After I apologized to Blair sincerely, I turned and was about to leave. I didn't expect her to block my way and refuse to let me leave.
She looked at me coldly and asked, "How long are you going to avoid me?"
"Avoid you?"
I gave her a faint smile and shook my head. "Ms. Shepherd, please don't misunderstand. I'm not trying to avoid you. I just don't want to make things difficult for myself."
I told her the truth. These endless pestering and harassment were starting to wear me out. The thought of what was to come made me feel exhausted.
Abigail's constant harassment and threats had drained me.
Right now, I wanted to work hard and earn money, so Lana and the other children had hope for their future. I didn't want to care about the rest.
