"Abigail, stop being unreasonable."
I looked at Abigail coldly and said in all seriousness, "Abigail, have you ever stopped to ask yourself if these questions you're asking me aren't just laughable?"
"We both know very well what goes on between us behind closed doors. Is it really necessary to dwell on these matters now?"
I stared at Abigail, hoping she would take in what I was saying.
But she had no intention of discussing this. Her expression remained calm as she gave a faint smile. Suddenly, she spoke softly, "Samuel, can you stop talking to me like that?"
I couldn't help but laugh at her questioning tone.
I shook my head, and with a look of disbelief, I said, "Abigail, are you joking with me? What kind of attitude do you expect me to have when talking to you? Polite? Gentle?
"Do you think our current relationship warrants that kind of tone? We're just a couple on the surface. Why do you insist on pushing me like this?"
I didn't understand why Abigail was doing this. But no matter the reason, her reckless torment was becoming unbearable.
I looked at her calmly and said, "Abigail, we're just a couple on the surface. If we're just pretending, then we can maintain a facade of a good relationship for appearances. As for how we behave privately, that's not something you should have a say in, is it?"
Abigail sneered upon hearing that. She mocked me and said, "Samuel, you say that, but I bet you're still involved with other women in secret, right?
