The Marriage She Turned into War novel Chapter 390

Abigail noticed that my expression remained unchanged. It was only then that she seemed to truly realize that what I said came straight from the heart.

She waved her hand dismissively, and her face showed a hint of remorse as she said softly, "Samuel, I… I'm sorry. I didn't mean to say those things. Please, don't take it to heart, okay?"

Her apology sounded sincere enough, but the way she looked at me still carried a mix of fervor and dissatisfaction. She had never truly regarded me as an individual in my own right.

"Whatever," I replied coolly. "I've gotten used to it."

I didn't take Abigail's apology to heart at all. After all, I'd long since become accustomed to her taunts and mockery.

When she spoke this way now, it actually threw me off for a moment. It felt almost unsettlingly unfamiliar.

However, my response made Abigail's face darken. She was furious, and her gaze was filled with discontent as she glared at me.

Anger flashed in her eyes as she suddenly grabbed my wrist and spat out, "Samuel, you'd better listen carefully! You're my husband! For the rest of your life, you'll belong to me, Abigail Bardot!

"Why do you always act so indifferent, like nothing matters to you? Who are you trying to impress with this lifeless attitude?"

Abigail stunned me. She wasn't wrong. I was still young, with so many possibilities ahead of me. If I were to give up on life now, how would I face the future?

She sat beside me while quietly sipping her soup. When I glanced at her, I noticed that she seemed utterly distracted, with her mind clearly elsewhere.

I didn't pay it much attention. All I could think about was leaving as soon as possible. I had no intention of continuing to be entangled with her any longer.

After Abigail finished her soup, she said, "Come, I'll take you somewhere."
