Abigail didn't care in the slightest about my feelings. She would easily tear down my dignity even in front of others and Joshua.
She had countless company matters to handle back when we had just married. She had to launch new initiatives, oversee ongoing works, negotiate collaborations, and secure investments.
She was so busy then that she barely had the time to eat, which eventually led to her having stomach issues. I was worried about her health, so I quit my job to take care of her.
I would make three meals a day for her and deliver them to her company. I was the one who attended to all the household affairs.
She would give me a sum from what she earned for household expenses every month. However, I never spent her money. All I spent were the savings I had from when I had worked.
Yet, that fact became a sore point for her to shame me with now.
I glanced up at her faintly and chuckled as I shook my head. "Your money is yours. It has nothing to do with me. Everything will be settled properly when we get divorced, so you don't need to worry about me pocketing anything."
"You…" Abigail frowned and looked at me as if she wanted to say something but ended up holding her tongue.
"Abigail, did I say something wrong? Please don't fight with Samuel because of me." Joshua tugged gently at Abigail's hand with a pitiful expression behind her and pleaded with a hint of grievance.
I glanced at him faintly and was amused.
Joshua had truly mastered the art of feigning innocence and helplessness.
No wonder Abigail adored him so much and even went to great lengths to lavish him with an expensive brooch.
"This is not your fault. You mustn't feel guilty." She stroked his hair tenderly and said softly, "Be good, alright?"
Joshua smiled with satisfaction. His eyes were filled with mockery and scorn when he looked up at me again as if he was laughing at me and seeing me as nothing more than a pitiful soul.
