The Marriage She Turned into War novel Chapter 61

I was stunned by Blair's straightforwardness. I hadn't expected her to take up on my casual offer seriously. She even wanted it to be done today.

I couldn't quite refuse since she had brought it up. I had no choice but to agree.

"Alright, then. Let's meet in half an hour."

I quickly made a reservation on my phone and sent Blair the location before heading to the restaurant by cab.

I made my way to the table I had reserved on the first floor when I arrived.

I felt a burning gaze fixed intently on me as soon as I sat down.

The intensity of it sent a chill down my spine. I glanced up uneasily. My breath quickened, and my face paled when my eyes met with Abigail's.

I had never expected to see her here. It felt as if someone had wrapped their hands around my throat and left me feeling suffocated. I could only stare at her blankly as my heart pounded and my scalp tingled.

I thought I had moved on after a long time without seeing her. Yet, I couldn't even muster the courage to stand up and walk away the moment I saw her again.

I was frustrated with myself as I inwardly cursed my lack of resolve.

She had long since stopped seeing me as a person of worth. Why would I still feel defeated in her presence?
