The Marriage She Turned into War novel Chapter 76

Although Abigail rejected Joshua's request, the affection in her tone was still unmistakable. This contrast made my stomach turn with disgust.

When I was with Abigail, she had never spoken to me in such a way. What had changed? Did her feelings for Joshua surpass everything she felt for me?

I felt no jealousy or resentment; rather, I found Abigail utterly repulsive at that moment. She was someone who played with my feelings and belittled me. She was unworthy of the love I had given her.

Joshua seemed quite displeased with Abigail's refusal. He continued to plead, "Abigail, I need to accompany you! There's no way I can let you go to such an event alone."

His ability to whine was top-notch. If I were a woman, I might have already fallen for his charm. Noticing that Abigail was silent, he pressed on, "Abigail, you've always had me by your side at public events! Samuel doesn't like these occasions; why would you want to bring him along?"

I froze, stunned by his words. Did he feel wronged because Abigail wanted to bring me with her? Before Abigail could respond, he added, "Samuel doesn't like you anymore, Abigail. If you bring him, he'll just embarrass you; he won't care at all!"

Through the floor-to-ceiling glass of the office, I could clearly see Abigail's expression change. She shot a cold glance at Joshua and snapped, "Are you trying to make this difficult for me?"

Joshua's eyes turned red, and he quietly started to cry in front of her. His pitiful demeanor was so convincing that even I felt a twinge of sympathy.
