Three days later, under the guardians' protection, Rocky and his companions finally arrived at the entrance of the Demon Valley.
The guardians had found a safe place to camp, and thus it didn't take long before they were settled.
"Mr. Basil, we will stop here. Once you rendezvous with your other companions, we guards will have to withdraw from this matter," Colton said to Rocky and Marcia once they were settled in the camp.
"Okay, thank you for all your hard work, Commander in Chief Colton. Please forward my thanks to your chief when you get back. Without the help of the Di Clan, I'm afraid we wouldn't have gotten here so smoothly," Rocky said gratefully.
"You're welcome, Mr. Basil. It's not a big deal. You've done so much more for our clan and the human race as a whole," Colton said with a smile. He looked at Rocky with great admiration.
After exchanging a few more words, Rocky and Marcia then left Colton's tent.
"Do you need me to head into the Demon Valley first to check the route?" Marcia asked Rocky.
"Okay, sounds like a plan." Rocky knew that the second they entered the valley, in order to reach the door on the other side, they had only their strength to rely on. It was better for them to be prepared.
Thus, Marcia left the camp with Sabina and entered the Demon Valley to scout.
Meanwhile, a few miles away from the northwest side of the Demon Valley, a team of hundreds of people was rapidly approaching the entrance of the valley. The leader of this team was Alyssa, who had planned to meet Rocky at the entrance.
"Your Majesty, we will arrive at the Demon Valley in half a day," a general of Timber Deity Empire reported to Alyssa.
"Great. Basil and the others should already be waiting for us at there," Alyssa guessed, staring absentmindedly into the horizon.
Just as she thought everything was going smoothly, something unexpected happened just a mile away from the entrance of the valley. In the blink of an eye, a troop of thousands of soldiers of the Shura Race emerged from out of nowhere and surrounded Alyssa and her team.
"Alyssa, you really disappoint me!" A tall figure walked to the forefront of the Shura Race's troops, his eyes revealing a deep hatred.
If Rocky were here, he would've been very surprised. The tall figure was Canaan.
However, this figure was not the real Canaan. He was actually one of the important members of the Shura Race's royal family.
"Jonathan!" Alyssa recognized him at first sight. He was the one who had captured her and gave her a choice.
"Oh, you still remember me?" Jonathan asked mockingly. If you remember me, you must also remember the promise you made to me." His voice sent a chill down Alyssa's spine. Because Alyssa betrayed him, his plan, which he had worked hard on, had ultimately failed.
"I haven't forgotten," Alyssa said through gritted teeth. "I was only forced to make that promise at the time."
"Ha-ha, the weak are the prey to the strong. It's a survival of the fittest in this cruel world—and if you do survive, you only grow stronger. I offered you a chance to become stronger, chance to let you establish your position in the spiritual race. If you only followed my plan, after you defeat the human race, you would've become an invaluable person in the spiritual race." Jonathan threw his head back and laughed like a crazed maniac.
"I don't care!" Alyssa snorted.
