The chauffeur, fearing Emily might defy him and enter anyway, immediately grabbed her. “Miss Leventhorpe, Mr. Dean has specifically instructed that you are not to step into the main hall or main courtyard without his permission.” 

“Why not? Is it because Samantha doesn’t want me to?” Emily asked, still confused.

Emily pouted and looked at Elias. “I’m not happy, Elias.” 

Not happy? Elias instantly became alarmed. “Who upset you?” 

“Everyone in this household has me.”
