Emily fidgeted awkwardly and explained, “I’m sorry, but I can’t tell you who Fin’s wife is. He told me I’m not allowed to share that with anyone.” 

Her words left room for speculation. If Mr. Dean doesn’t want anyone to know who his wife is, isn’t that kind of shady? 

If Mr. Dean’s wife has to keep a secret as if she doesn’t even exist, what does that say about her? The students quickly picked up on this, and gossip started flying. It seems obvious–Mr. Dean isn’t ready to acknowledge his wife yet, so her identity has to stay under wraps.

The students wandered off, still laughing. Emily sat back at her desk with a sly grin, thinking, Samantha, you wanted me to clear things up, right? Well, I did. You must be really thankful to me now. 

Meanwhile, Samantha was grabbing lunch in the cafeteria when she saw on the forum that Emily had “cleared up” the situation about her relationship with Finley. She overheard some students talking about it at the next table. 

“Emily isn’t Mr. Dean’s wife–she’s just his sister. Still, her brother, Elias, is really something. It’s a good idea to be on her good side. If I ever need surgery, I’ll just ask her to hook me up with him.” 

“Is it just me, or is Elias both rich and ridiculously hot? You guys are thinking about surgery, but I’m over here thinking about asking him out.” 

“You’re so obsessed!” 

As the gossip continued, Samantha felt a sense of relief. At least Emily didn’t abuse Finley’s name. That’s something, at least.
