“Even if something happens to Samantha, Finley won’t know it’s us. Don’t worry, Amy, I’ve got a fall guy,” Holly assured her.
Amy raised her eyebrows in surprise. Wow, Mom is quick! With that sorted, the next move is to deal with Samantha. Samantha, you’ve pushed your luck, and now you face the consequences. You went after my man, and you’re going to regret that. You couldn’t win three years ago, and that’s not about to change now.
Confident in her own smarts, Amy felt unbeatable. No matter who was on Samantha’s side–Finley or anyone else–she didn’t stand a chance against her.
Meanwhile, at Finley’s place, things were relaxed. Samantha and Finley were in the kitchen, whipping up some treats together, clearly enjoying each other’s company.
Watching them, Daphne couldn’t help but comment, “Mr. and Mrs. Dean are such a sweet couple. Just look at how happy they are! I won’t be surprised if we have a little princess in the house soon.”
One of the maids chimed in, “What about a little prince?”
Daphne giggled. “It doesn’t matter! I’ll cherish them both, whether prince or princess, since they belong to Mr. Dean!”
Samantha and Finley caught this, and Finley leaned in to murmur, “Did you catch that? Ms. Stuart is already hoping for a little princess–and a prince, too.”
Samantha blushed and inquired, “Are you serious about wanting kids?”
“Definitely,” Finley replied without missing a beat.
Samantha beamed. “Okay, if that’s what you want, we’ll make it happen.”
Finley wrapped his arms around her from behind, his voice playful. “How do you always know how to make my wishes come true?”
Samantha leaned back against him, grinning. “Because I want what you want.”
Her words made Finley’s heart swell. Honestly, marrying Sam is the best thing ever, he thought, feeling incredibly lucky.
“Here, give this a try,” Samantha encouraged, handing him a warm pastry. Finley sampled it, his eyes brightening as he commented, “It’s so sweet!”
Samantha laughed. “Finley, it’s more on the salty side.”
He smirked. “The real sweetness is in the thought.”
Samantha giggled, shaking her head as she took a bite from the pastry in his hand. “Alright, I suppose it’s got a hint of sweetness.”
