Dale watched helplessly as the shareholders quickly moved to block him from helping Samantha. Before he could say anything, one of them spoke up, “The test is simple. The bidding for that land Dean Corporation plans to develop is already over. If you can still secure a contract to work with Dean Corporation despite the bidding having ended, we’ll admit you’re capable, support you, and give you the president’s seat.”
Securing a contract with Dean Corporation wasn’t easy it was a high–stakes deal. If Samantha could pull it off, her abilities would rival her mother’s. But if she failed, the shareholders would feel justified in backing Dale instead. After all, “the older the ginger, the spicier,” as they say.
Hearing this, Samantha calmly opened the file in front of her. A flicker of surprise crossed her face when she saw its contents. It wasn’t a document about the acquisition of Wallace Corporation; it was about a collaboration. It seemed Finley had anticipated this moment, as the document he provided was specifically for that land development project.
Samantha quickly regained her composure and placed the contract on the table.
“As it happens,” she said, “I just received this signed contract from Finley. This means that, once I’m president, Wallace Corporation can collaborate with Dean Corporation to develop that land. The contract eyen specifies that, as long as I’m in charge, Dean Corporation will prioritize us for all future projects. So, if you still want to choose Dale over me, you’ll be throwing away all opportunities to work with Dean Corporation.”
She paused for a moment before adding, “And that’s not all.”
Suddenly, Finley’s voice rang out from the doorway. Dressed in all black, his presence dominated the room as he entered.
“If Samantha isn’t made president today,” he announced, “Dean Corporation will forcibly acquire Wallace Corporation. You have two choices: back Samantha and keep the chance to work with us or stick with Dale and see Wallace Corporation taken over, leaving all of you without shares or influence. The first choice is clearly better, don’t you think?”
