Even though he adored the stage, he could never return to it. 

Sylvan stared at the check lying on the table but ultimately left it untouched. He rose to his feet and walked out of Samantha’s office without looking back, 

He held onto the last shred of his pride.. 

She watched his retreating figure and felt a tug of curiosity, so she stood up and followed him. She was eager to understand what drove him to ask her for a loan in such a humble manner. 

What could bring him to such a low point, only to reject my help before leaving? 

Logically, she thought that after handing him 300 thousand dollars in an instant, he would feel grateful enough to discuss signing a contract with her. Yet, he turned down the money and did not mention the contract at all. What on earth was going on? 

Determined to find out, Samantha hurried after him. 

Upon reaching the ground floor, she was met with the buzzing whispers of employees discussing her. Their words were laced with scorn, accusing her of climbing the corporate ladder solely by riding on Finley’s coattails. They claimed that if it weren’t for him, she wouldn’t even have a shot at being the CEO of Wallace Corporation. 

She was merely a twenty–year–old girl–nothing more than a brat. 

Faced with their jabs and derision, Samantha straightened her back and approached the gossiping employees. With a cold tone, she declared, “If you enjoy spreading rumors about others so much, do it outside of Wallace Corporation. Effective immediately, you are all fired.” 

The employees bristled with anger upon hearing her words. 

“How dare you fire us?” one of them shot back. 

“How dare I?” Samantha let out a sarcastic laugh. “I dare because I am the CEO of Wallace Corporation. And because you dare to gossip about me without any regard. I could have had my lawyer sue you for defamation. I’m being generous by merely asking you to leave now. 

“You should do so before I have security escort you out because being tossed out by security carries a very different weight than walking out on your own.” 

The employees frowned, frustration etched across their faces. “Samantha, you’re barely older than we are. You lack respect for the senior employees, and yet you think you can fire us? Do you have any idea? If you fire us today, tomorrow’s headlines would be on how you abused your power and bullied your staff.” 

How I abused my power and bullied my staff? 

The notion was laughable, and a sardonic smile crept across Samantha’s face. “If you truly wish to see me make headlines, feel free to do so. Go for it. I welcome any kind of publicity now. 

“Besides, my company is about to break into the entertainment industry. So, being in the headlines could be quite beneficial, don’t you think? Everyone should know that Wallace Corporation is making waves.”
